Another cute and fluffly prompt - that we can’t answer 。゚・ (>﹏<) ・゚。 sorry! But if anyone is inspired and maybe want to write this we’ll be very thankful ♡
Hello~ would you write sicfic whit akashi & gom + nijimura, kagami when seijuro gets food poisoning (or something) and each character takes care of him on their own way. (oh! and not at the same time. every member has their own day to take care of akashi) if you do this thank you very very much and i love your fics!!
Okay, this would be easiest to write as a set of headcanons if that’s alright? Since there are so many characters (and food poisoning usually doesn’t last more than a few days.
How it happens
who knew tofu soup could give you food poisoning? akashi didn’t. (the chef was duly fired and blacklisted from getting a job at another restaurant anywhere in japan.)
by the time his stomach starts gurgling and cramps begin to wrack him, he has an idea of what’s going on -- and no, he is not happy about it. even the infallible akashi seijuro isn’t immune to foodborne illness.
luckily, he isn’t alone...
Midorima
midorima’s got this, he’s a doctor.
at least, that’s what he tells himself (even though he is by no means an actual doctor, he’s a high school student with a weird zodiac obsession. but he’s going to be a doctor, eventually, so he’s obviously the best person to handle this.)
he’s unprepared, however, to see his friend kneeling in front of the toilet, fighting off the urge to be sick again.
akashi’s face is a washed out grey shade; eyes closed, he is visibly trembling with nausea. there is something so wrong about seeing akashi bright low that midorima is taken aback.
he forces himself to proceed as if it were anyone else. he’s very clinical; he observes the patient’s condition, sets him up with pillows and a blanket, and encourages him to drink water to prevent dehydration.
when akashi proceeds to throw up all the water, midorima is ready for that too. he pats his friend’s back and eases him through the worst waves of his sickness until he can catch his breath again.
midorima might be an oddball of a human being, but he will (as akashi confides in him later) “make a great doctor.”
Kuroko
kuroko accidentally scares akashi, which is not the best way to help a person with food poisoning.
(scaring a person with food poisoning can cause projectile vomiting. akashi learns this the hard way, and kuroko suffers too, because he’s the one who has to scrub vomit off the bathroom floor.)
kuroko is just as perturbed as midorima to see his friend in such a state, but he has a gentler hand. most of his time is spent soothing akashi, rubbing his back and massaging his aching stomach as it cramps and gurgles.
kuroko stays with akashi for as long as he needs to be in the bathroom. since akashi doesn’t want to leave, they end up there all night.
kuroko falls asleep on the bathroom floor and wakes up with an ache in his back; but he also finds akashi curled up and sleeping peacefully against the bathtub, so he decides it was really worth it.
Murasakibara
murasakibara is uncomfortable in this situation. he does not know how to comfort, at all. somehow he thinks offering akashi snacks right now isn’t the best idea.
he’s freaked out when akashi first starts vomiting; he has no clue how to help, so the first thing he does is just walk out of the bathroom.
he comes back five minutes later with a bottle of water. by this point, akashi has stopped vomiting. he’s sitting next to the toilet, hiccuping queasily with both hands around his stomach, and it’s all murasakibara can do not to turn on his heel and walk out again.
“aka-chin’s sick,” he says instead, handing him the water. “drink.”
“it will only make me sick again...”
“but if aka-chin gets dehydrated --” murasakibara cuts himself off, giving up. he isn’t about to force akashi to do anything he doesn’t want to, so instead he says, “are you gonna be sick again?”
it takes a minute of consideration, but after a while akashi shakes his head. relieved, mura decides the best thing to do is take akashi to bed. the giant ould probably pick him up, but marasakibara isn’t stupid; he settles for helping akashi stumble to bed, and once they get there he doesn’t say a word before lying down in bed next to him. he lets the other boy rest his head on his chest, and it’s almost peacful for a while.
(akashi winds up throwing up again, all over the bed; murasakibara was not prepared.)
Kise
oh kise. kise tries so hard, and doesn’t realize how overbearing he can be when someone’s sick.
he asks a lot of questions -- a lot. “akashicchi, are you feeling any better? do you want to me get you some water? anything to eat? how about a blanket?” he’s genuinely trying to help, but it gets annoying.
eventually akashi orders kise to go away. hurt and surprised, the blond obliges, leaving akashi to empty out his stomach in peace.
he only dares to approach him again when he sees a pale, shaky akashi stumble out of the bathroom. “akashicchi?” he tries, and is just in time to catch akashi as his legs give out and he falls forward.
the good thing about kise is that he’s basically a human puppy, and has no problem cuddling akashi and stroking his hair, even (especially) when he’s feeling so miserable. he soothes his friend with quiet words, and it isn’t long before akashi falls asleep lulled by the golden sound of kise’s voice.
Aomine
just... just a mess, man. he can’t take care of people. he can’t take care of himself. he needs momoi to remind him to eat and wake him up from twelve hour naps, so if akashi gets sick aomine will be more than willing to pass the task of caretaking off to someone else.
if he is the only one around, he panics a bit -- because he knows literally anyone would be able to handle this better. kuroko could handle this better; momoi could handle this way better; imayoshi could handle this better, and he’s terrifying.
aomine also does his best, but his best is underwhelming.
he tries to get medicine; he gets the wrong kind. he tries to feed akashi, but the smell of food only makes him heave.
eventually, akashi just tells him what to do and aomine follows orders without a complaint. this is hard on both of them; he just wants akashi to get better as soon as possible.
Momoi
momoi is, like... the most responsible person here. she’s got this.
of course, she’s absolutely terrified when akashi first keels over -- because it’s akashi, and like everyone else, seeing him weakened is a shock to her system.
but she can push her shock out of her mind in time to rub his back as he vomits, muttering soothing words to him and holding him as he continues to be sick. momoi is perhaps the only person akashi wouldn’t shove away immediately, out of pride or something else. it is very hard to say no to momoi.
she gets him in bed as soon as possible, knowing how important it is for him to rest. not wanting him to be worn out by constant bathroom runs, she sets up a pot by the side of his bed. he makes good use of it.
she even sings to him to help him get to sleep, which he appreciates more than he will say.
Kagami
he calls kuroko
he’s afraid of akashi, tbh. he doesn’t feel comfortable around the guy, so, like aomine, he’d rather the job get passed off to anyone but him.
kuroko is busy on his own, so he can’t go directly to wherever akashi and kagami are at that moment; he tells kagami to deal with it himself for as long as he can until kuroko can get there.
akashi is already well on his way to being sick when kagami gets back to him. it’s clear he’s trying his damnedest to hold himself together, but kagami can hear his stomach surging. akashi only has time to hunch down towards the sidewalk before he’s heaving up a surge of sick.
acting on instinct, kagami grabs the boy by his shoulders before he can crumple.
he isn’t eviscerated on the spot, so he takes that as a good sign.
getting sick in public is awful, and kagami knows it. he tows the sick boy over to the nearest bench, awkwardly massaging one hand up and down his back as akashi burps queasily.
“are you... uhh, do you feel any better?”
akashi shoots him a look that turns his blood to ice. “no. i do not.”
it’s a scary situation for kagami overall and he’s more than relieved when kuroko gets there to save him
Nijimura
Dad Mode activated
nijimura is used to taking care of his little siblings, so when akashi gets sick he is on top of it
he’s the one who’s with akashi, playing a one-on-one match with him, when the tummy troubles start. akashi doesn’t say anything, of course, but it’s hard not to notice the way his face grows pale, or how he is no longer quite dominating in their game.
nijimura stops, demanding to know what’s wrong. akashi refuses to answer at first, but the gurgling of his stomach tells nijimura all he needs to know.
he makes akashi sit down, in spite of the boy’s protests. he hopes that just giving akashi distance and letting him rest will settle his stomach; he’s mistaken. it isn’t long before he begins to rub the boy’s back, and then his bloated, angry stomach.
akashi is obviously embarrassed, still as a rod under nijimura’s hands. but he’s also sick, and it isn’t long before he’s breathing deeply and trying not to get sick all over the gym floors.
nijimura leads akashi to the bathroom, and rubs his back as he belches up mouthfuls of sick. of all the people that could look after akashi, nijimura is probably his best bet.
