NYCL 2018

This week was the 2018 National Youth Cricket League tournament. The tournament consisted of teams all over the nation playing against each other. I played in the Under-16 division. 

I had a great time playing the tournament. Since my academy had an excess of players on their team I played for Washington and met new people! I also performed well in the tournament. I took four wickets in four games. In my first game, I got the man of the match award for my bowling. 

However, my team and I did not field well. Our team did many misfields and dropped many catches. This tournament made me learn that fielding is important as batting or bowling. If a bowler bowls an unplayable delivery and if the keeper doesn’t catch it then whats the use of the bowler bowling well if we won’t take wickets. 

We almost made the playoffs and if it weren’t for our fielding we could have definitely made it.

Also, in the NYCL banquet, I hosted a Be The Match Bone Marrow Registry.

Reconnecting With Three Days Grace

I own the first two Three Days Grace CD’s. I like them both, but the band never really stood out for me among the early 2000’s rock bands. They simply faded away as I moved on to countless other bands over the years. When iHeartRadio posted a contest to see them live, I thought “Hey, I used to like them, so I might as well enter!” Needless to say, I got the call that I was on the list for the show and immediately fired up Spotify. I completely forgot about songs like “I Hate Everything About You”, “Riot” and “Never Too Late”. Also, to my surprise, they had just released their third album since I last listened to them.

The purpose of the iHeartRadio show was to promote the release of the band’s latest album, Human, so I gave that several spins. I was quickly reminded why I had bought those first two albums. With songs like “Painkiller”, “I Am Machine” and “So What” they’ve continued their brand of rock they started way back in 2003. I highly recommend giving the new album a listen.

For those that haven’t been to the iHeartRadio Theater, it’s an intimate, roughly 200 capacity room with great sound. Definitely one of the best places to see a concert in the city, especially since the shows are free! The band played a high energy, nearly 60 minute set tearing through 12 songs featuring a mix of hits and new songs. Now that I’ve had a chance to experience them live, I look forward to seeing them again.
