PRINCESS NOKIA: G.O.A.T SONG REVIEW

             Princess Nokia is rap’s best kept secret. She is completely unashamed and her style is fresh, new and intriguing. On her new track ‘G.O.A.T.’ she establishes the following- “I ain't the best, but damn I'm the best”. G.O.A.T is the underground banger that is pulsating with heavy bars, heart-shaking bass, and strong drum breaks. The drum breaks provide a good ebb-and-flow rhythm for Nokia to rap over smoothly, and she uses every second of the song well. Nokia lays down bars that are not essentially in delivery, but her lyrics are well thought and heavy-hitting. Princess Nokia has rightly showed herself to be a force to be reckoned with, and simplicity is not in her vocabulary. Her raps are complex and intricate, and easy to relate to. Princess Nokia has served a true banger that needs to be heard, and her sound goes beyond her NYC-inspired aesthetic. Her raps are as gritty and as unapologetic as she is, and she may very well be bringing more fire to the rap scene. The real question is if rap will be able to handle it.
