13) Your strengths as an author

Characters! I always knew I had fun writing and coming up with characters and backstories, but especially since I’ve been writing and sharing fic I’ve realized that that is actually a huge strength of mine. I thought people would HATE Abby. The fact that people love Abby and find her relatable I think is a testament to my characterizations. I thought she’d be off-putting to people or too much of a disaster. Instead there’s a crazy amount of love for her as flawed as she is and that just…makes me soooo happy. I’m really thrilled that her layers and complexities came across well to everyone, and I’m insanely proud that that’s how people see her. Yaaaaay!

Ok I shared some of Moments Passed so now let’s share some Abby/Rylen. Just Like Heaven with maybe the funniest scene/banter I’ve EVER written or will EVER be able to write again. Rylen needing a suppository medicine to help with his lyrium withdrawal.

“This should keep you from getting sick so you can hold in some water, you’re – you’re really dehydrated, I’m worried you’re – you could -” her voice cracked and she cleared her throat. “I need your permission first – well, and I guess your help.”

“Anything to help this blasted ache in my head, lass,” he moaned. Everything was spinning again, he still felt so hot.

“Uh – so, one of my coworkers is studying to be a nurse, and I asked her for these – they’re heavy duty, they’ll stop you from vomiting all the time, which is – what we want,” she sounded nervous, like she was rambling. “The thing is they’re – um – they’re – suppositories.”

“They’re what lass? Speak Common.”

“I speak English, moron,” she sighed.  “So it’s Phenergan, suppositories, they’re – they’re,” she took a deep breath and clenched her eyes shut, “it means you take them – you put them in your ass.”

For a moment he thought he misheard her and he quirked an eyebrow, waiting to see if she explained further. But at his silence she peeked one eye open to look at him, as if she was scared of his reaction.

“In – surely you’re having a go, lass,” he chuckled softly.

She heaved a sigh and arched her neck, closing her eyes. “Trust me I wish I was,” she groaned. “Can we just – get this over with? I either do this or deal with you dying on my sofa -”

“I’m not dying -”

“You’re damn near close,” she snapped, shooting him a withering glare before she tugged her trembling bottom lip between her teeth. “Now please, roll over.”

He stared at her for only a moment more before he did as she asked, the sight of her looking so concerned over him tugging at something inside of him. The motion of rolling over made the room spin again, and he clenched his eyes shut. He felt torn between giddiness and nausea, wanting to laugh or simply sleep.

She tugged at the waistband of his soft pants until they were below his ass and he heard her sigh.

“Oh come now, Abby, you’ve seen it once already,” he muttered. “Unless that was a sigh of appreciation?”

“Please don’t -”

“Do I get a kiss before you stick your finger up my bum? After all, that’s common courtesy -”

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me -”

“Be gentle with me, lass, it’s my first time -”

“Damn it, Rylen – could you be serious?”

He laughed and rolled his head to the side so he could look at her, and he raised his eyebrows when he saw how flushed and flustered she was. “Why, Abby, I didn’t take you for a bashful lass.”

“You’re the fucking worst, maybe I should let you die on my sofa,” she ground out.

“You wouldn’t do that to someone under your care,” he teased. “Especially not when you can’t stop staring at my bum -”

“Fucking Christ,” she breathed, biting her bottom lip until it was white, as if she was trying to keep herself from retorting.

“I’m just trying to make you more comfortable,” he assured her with a weak bark of laughter.

“By flirting with me while I have my finger up your ass?”

“When else should I do it?”

“How about -”

“Eh lass that’s cold -”

“There, done.”

“Aw, already?”

“I hate you,” she turned her glare back at him, but her eyes were searching his face, her brows furrowed with what looked like concern and not anger.

“No you don’t, lass,” he told her softly, reaching down to pull his pants back up so that he could roll back onto his side.

I have a really cheesy hc lol 😂 Some orlesian noble sent Nylah a bunch of these flavored lip creams and she quickly discovers that Cullen really likes them. She turns it into a game, making him guess the flavor when she decides to wear one. Later on Cullen mentions that he likes the peach flavor the best because it reminds of home. Nylah basically melts, and wears that one more often just for him

Awww thank you! Hmm, I have to make one for them :) Cophie? Sonnor? Sophie800? lol.

Cullen and Lyd:

2. What was the first moment that they knew they were in love with their LI? 

Cullen knew he loved her when they first kissed at the battlements (they kiss after both WIcked eyes and Adamant in my fic, but BEFORE his perseverance quest.) But he didn’t know how in love with her he was until after perseverance and she took him to a secret grove behind Skyhold. They kind of...consumated their relationship and everything feel into place. 

Similarly Lydia knew she loved him when they kissed, but she understood she loved cullen for cullen in that one moment they spent together before she ran to the temple of mythal. 

4. Their favorite physical feature on each other?

Cullen loves her eyes, but he’s also a big sucker for her muscular legs. He could spend hours touching them. also he loves them on his back when he goes down on her OHHHH 

Lydia loves his hands and the cheekbones that could carve ice.

Connor & Soph:

6. Who is the big spoon?

Connor because he’s so tall, but Sophie likes to be the big spoon too :3

10. Do they have pet names for each other?

So (spoilers?) but once Connor figures out she loves old movies, he calls her Darling a lot. Also, one of her favorite songs is “don’t worry baby” by the beach boys, so he’ll often say “don’t worry baby,” a lot. Sophie herself is big on “darling.” sometimes too she’ll just say “Con.”

Just bought Detroit just so I could read your story XD I'm excited

You bought Detroit to read my fic?!?!?!?!

I don’t know what to say other than I’m like…super flattered?!

Oh I hope you like it! I was not given a fair warning before I played about Connor…but here is your warning: he is unbearably dapper, cute, and a mess of feels. (Markus is pretty nice as well :) ) But oh dang…Connor? Last time I felt this way about a fictional man was because of Commander Cullen :)

Anyway, please enjoy the game! Here’s a couple of tips from me:

The first time you play, go by your instincts. 

If you’re bad at quick time events, nothing wrong with putting the game on an easy difficulty. (I’m pretty good at QTEs and didn’t miss many on the harder difficulty, but something to keep in mind. I find the game pretty forgiving though if you miss a few.)

Explore! I missed a few things my first playthrough because I didn’t look around 

Above all, when you play as Connor and end up in Hank’s house during a chapter…PET SUMO.

Cullen kisses with everything. He doesn’t do anything halfway but this is especially true with kissing. He uses his hands, he makes me feel safe. He is...he is home.

Have any characters (DA or not) that everyone loves but you hate? Or vice versa?

I don’t think there’s a character in DA I hate, but I have some characters I’m not exactly fond of. Under the cut because I try to stay positive here :)

Okay my feelings have somewhat softened on the man, but I really don’t care for Anders and haven’t since I first put in DA2. first of all I never played awakening, and when I got to the first flirt it annoyed me when he started it and then rebuffed me. Fenris is my man of choice in DA2, yes, but the way Anders treated Fenris, Merril, Aveline and Hawke never sat well with me. However, I love his function in the game. I love what he does at the end, even though I think the action was a wrong one. Anders is polarizing but he’s one character that’s on my “meh” list. He also bears an unfortunate resemblance someone I know in real life, that i’m not very fond of.

I respect Duncan but I play a Cousland and he strikes me as a little insensitive, even though I do get it, so to speak.

Yennefer from the Witcher gets some hate but I love her.  Mostly from just people who’ve played the games and prefer Triss. but while we’re at it. I don’t appreciate how triss kind of manipulates geralt. 

Now to characters that people love but I don’t: I’m just going to say it: I could not connect with my sarah ryder in ME Andromeda at all. I just…don’t like her? IDK that’s probably the reason I will never be able to play threw the game again.
