When Iceland went upstairs to her room to get a bracelet that her friend, Seychelles, left there, she didn’t expect to come downstairs to find him and her other friend, Liechtenstein, to be chatting away with her sister and her sister’s girlfriend in the kitchen.
Iceland poked her head out from behind entrance to the kitchen to listen to what they were talking about.
“So, you’re the friends that Ice has been talking about lately?” Her sister, Norway, asked.
Iceland cringed a bit. Did her sister actually say that? She would’ve interrupted but stayed back to see what her friends were going to say.
Liechtenstein was the first person to reply, “Yes Miss Norway.”
Liechtenstein was that kid who adults and random grandmas at the bus station liked to talk to.
“Maybe it was because he has the soul of an old man.” Iceland thought to herself.
Denmark, her sister’s girlfriend, chuckled, “You don’t have to call us “Miss”, Liechtenstein. It makes us feel old.”
Seychelles laughed, “I don’t think it’s possible for him to not do that.”
Iceland stifled a laugh from hearing Seychelles say that.
The table was quiet for a minute and then Denmark spoke up, “Wanna hear stories about Ice when she was little?”
Seychelles grinned, “Heck yeah.”
“Traitor”, Iceland thought.
That’s when Iceland herself decided to intervene, “The hell you are Dane!”
Denmark teased, “Oh come on, who doesn’t want to hear about how when you were just a new nation you wanted to be a, and I quote, a “Fairy Viking Princess of the Woods”?”
Iceland felt her cheeks burn, “Shut it Denmark!”
Norway commented nonchalantly, “You were a cute kid Icey.”
“Norway!”
Liechtenstein gave Ice a warm smile, “I think those stories are quite endearing.”
Seychelles looked at the bracelet in Iceland’s hand, “Thanks for getting my bracelet Ice!”
Iceland had forgotten about the bracelet.
“Oh right. Here.”
He slipped it on and asked, “Are we going to play that new game now?”
He turned to Norway and Denmark, “Not that talking to you guys is a bad thing!”
Denmark waved him off, “Yeah, yeah. Go play your game! Go do what the kids do these days!”
Norway stared at her, “You made yourself sound like an old woman.”
“Well aren’t we both, technically, old women?”
Iceland interrupted, “We’ll be going now!”
Once the three of them left, Norway reflected, “They grow up so fast.”
Denmark leaned into Norway, “Yeah. But, that’s the circle of life right?”
“Yes.”
“Coffee time?”
Norway deadpanned, “Do you even need to ask?”

Amelia threw the last bag into the trunk. It was done. They could finally get on the road.
Her little sister Meg stuck her head out the window, "Amelia! You should be more careful."
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say dude."
When she got into the car, her youngest brother Shawn was sitting patiently while staring out the window.
Amelia started the car, “Alright! Who’s ready for Operation Kirkland-Bonnefoy-Williams-Jones-Laroche?!”
Meg stared at her, “The what?”
Shawn had a hand over his mouth to prevent himself from laughing, “Can you repeat that Amelia?”
Amelia grinned brightly, “Yeah sure little dude! “Operation Kirkland-Bonnefoy-Williams-Jones-Laroche”. It’s good right?”
Shawn replied through small fits of laughter, “It’s perfect.”
Meg simply raised an eyebrow and left it at that.
Operation Kirkland-Bonnefoy-Williams-Jones-Laroche had begun.
Amelia, Meg and Shawn had been living in an apartment away from home so they could go to college.
Sadly, that meant that they were away from home.
So, they decided to make the trip back to the house the three of them grew up in.
And to visit Rose and Marion, the women who adopted them and became their mothers.
Amelia started to drive. She decided to put on some music. But she didn’t know what genre.
She called out to Shawn, “Shawn! Do you have any song requests?”
Shawn shrugged, “I don’t really have a preference. I’m good with whatever.”
Meg coughed, “I’m here too you know.”
Amelia started flipping through the music stations, “Alright, Meg what do you want to listen to?”
Meg stayed quiet for a while before saying, “Maybe classical?”
Amelia groaned, “Classical? You sound like Mama.”
Meg challenged her, “Well what would you like to listen to?”
“Maybe… oh what’s that band Mom likes?”
Since Marion and Rose were both the kids mother, they opted for Marion to be called “Mama” and for Rose to be called “Mom”.
Shawn piped up from the back, “You’re gonna have to be more specific Amy.”
Amelia cursed under her breath.
Shawn chided, “Language!”
Amelia laughed, “You sound like Mom!”
Meg decided to jump in with a fake English accent, similar to the one their Mom had, “I will not tolerate any swearing in my house!”
Amelia snorted, “She says as she proceeds to curse like a sailor not even a day later.”
The three of them erupted in laughter.

When they arrived at the house, Rose and Marion were home.
The three of them stared at the house, memories coming back to them in waves.
The days Amelia would spend reading about space in the backyard while looking up at the night sky.
The days that Meg would spend learning how to make pancakes with her Mama.
The days that Shawn spent watching clips and videos of Olympic swimmers in the living room and wondering if he could be like them.
The three of them knocked on the door.
When the door opened to reveal Marion and Rose, the three of them gave them both a hug.
They were home.

Hey! So this is a Human AU! I decided to go with free day because I don't know if Iceland/Seychelles/Liechtenstein have interacted with each other in history.

Shawn trained his gaze on the screen. He could not afford to lose this game. The consequences would be astronomical.
Toad got hit by a blue shell.
Shawn exclaimed, "No! Who threw that shell?!"
The Icelander sitting next to him, Lilja, pointed to Noah, "It was him."
Noah had a guilty smile on his face, "Sorry Shawn." But something about the way he had a glint in his eye told Shawn he wasn't really sorry but it wasn't malicious.
"Evil jerk." Shawn said, more to himself than to the others, smiling warmly.
Noah Stein had a reputation of being an angel child, a true gentleman. But he could also be mischievous if the time called for it.
Mario Kart, was the time to call upon all the skills you have in order to crush your enemies.
Lilja chuckled as her character (Rosalina) passed Noah's character (Shy Guy) in the race, "If you guys are going to just keep fighting each other back and forth I'll win this."
Shawn stuck his tongue out but didn't say anything.
He couldn't afford to not focus. But he could afford to mess with Lilja's head a bit.
"Lilja?"
"Yeah?"
"Don't you think that Rosalina looks like your sister?"
Lilja turned to stare at him menacingly, "Do not continue that thought."
"But they're both blonde, have some sort of magic powers," Shawn continued. It was true that Lilja's sister was blonde but the trio weren't sure about the magic powers.
It was simply something that they came up with when they went to Lilja's house for the first time.
Lilja seemed to be in deep thought about this for a second.
Noah figured out what Shawn was doing and decided to help out a bit, "She also wears a lot of blue.”
Lilja frowned before realizing what the boys were doing, “I won’t fall for that!”
She did fall for it in the end.
As Lilja finished the race she turned to the boys, “I hate you.”
Shawn put a hand to his chest in a dramatic manner, “Betrayal! How dare you!”
Noah laughed at Shawn’s antics and Lilja had no choice but to join in.
It was a very fun day in the end.
