Waking up in 2014 feeling like it's 1964

I shouldn't have to chant shit about #blacklivesmatter. I shouldn't have to be facebook ranting about some racist shit that is happening all around me. I wish the FBI would show up at my door with questions about my anti-police rants... I'd love to have a conversation.

I'm truly gutted. Not just because it's close to home; not just because it's my husband... but at the realization that in these United States, beacon of freedom and democracy, the state can take someone's life with impunity. Even if there had been a video to prove that he hadn't turnstile-skipped, and had actually paid a fare, it wouldn't have mattered. Please be careful out there, and keep your wits about you. Thanks for acknowledging and understanding my anger and fear...
