Death by Cop - Franklyn Reid

My brother Franklyn Reid, killed by a police officer in 1998, became a landmark case in Connecticut. Judge Gill (trial judge) and I authored a factual story about a case which touched many lives. We start by dedicating our book “To innocent victims of crimes and brave police officers.” We present the emotional struggle both families (victim and officer) endured.

On March 1, 2015 LAPD murdered unarmed Charley Robinet (“Africa”). He was on the ground and surrounded by several fully armed officers, but yet they shot and killed him. Trishawn Cardessa Carey, a 34-year old skid row resident and witness to the murder, was arrested at the scene. She was beaten by the police and later charged with assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. Her bail is set at $1,085,000.00. LAPD uses skid row and other low income communities of color as their killing fields and as testing grounds for their tools of violence and surveillance- their murderous ways are getting worse. Trishawn is a survivor of these killing fields but is now being held as a political prisoner- LAPD is afraid of what she will say, being a witness of this murder. We demand that they free Trishawn Carey! ‬
