Time to ramble about my new rat.
I briefly talked about Nypr here before, but I want to flesh them out some more. More specifically, I wanted to build out their relationships. Nypr is a twin- specifically, Teyo’s twin. Teyo was Nypr’s shadow growing up. If Nypr wanted to build a toy golem, so did Teyo; if Nypr wanted a snack, Teyo wanted the same one they did; if Nypr asked to spend the afternoon over at a friend’s house, Teyo would whine until she was invited along too... you get the jist. Until they entered college, the pair were (reluctantly on Nypr’s part) inseparable. College was where Nypr finally was able to fully realize their intelligence. With Teyo busy with her own classes, Nypr buckled down and focused on their studies. They made friends and what they hoped would become potential connections as they proceeded through their coursework. Graduation came, and Nypr graduated genius second rank: nothing to be sniffed at! Teyo... graduated. The Inquest came courting Nypr, and Teyo demanded they take her as well. Not ones to turn down fresh meat intellect that was so willing to join up, the Inquest representative agreed to hiring Teyo as well. And thus began the rivalry between the twins in earnest. Nypr immediately found their footing and took off, working well with the higher ups and their colleagues and performing all of their assignments in their first lab to such high quality that they were moved to Thaumanova for work that required higher clearance. Teyo was fixated on what Nypr was working on, to the detriment of her own work, and she was relocated to the Funhouse. (Headcanon time: I see the Funhouse as being a form of punishment for the Inquest. Like being demoted to a D-class in the SCP universe, but a step above since they’re still able to participate in experiments. You don’t want to be at the Funhouse, and if you end up there you don’t want to stay there. You do everything in your power to prove you’re able to get out of there. The fact that Teyo is still there by the beginning of the personal story is, honestly, impressive. I also see Teyo as obsessive, and she needs to have something to fixate on. For much of the first part of her life, it’s Nypr. By the time we as the PC meet her in the asura personal story, she’s fixating on Zojja or whoever Zojja’s mentoring at the time.) Nypr’s moment that got them promoted to the head of public relations was when the Thaumanova meltdown happened. They got out safely with some projects in tow, and when the Arcane Eye showed up they happened to be the person the lead investigator decided to talk to. They turned on the charm, happily explaining what projects could be explained without higher security clearances to the investigator, as well as spinning up a practical and logical reason for the explosion that ultimately didn’t point to any chaos magic or draconic energy and definitely not any rifts in the space time continuum. (That would be for whoever the Council assigned to figure it out.) Once the Arcane Eye left so the Inquest could begin “cleaning it up”, they were approached by their supervisors and offered the role of “head of public relations” to Nypr: a new position, but clearly one that they needed and one that Nypr seemed to have a knack for. Nypr was brought to the Inquest headquarters and has been there ever since.
