Ghosts of the Separatists- Nyss Mir and Master Umo
An Umbaran Jedi knight, Nyss Mir served the Jedi Order dutifully for much of her life as part of the medical branch of the Jedi Service Corps. Nyss believed strongly in the Jedi code and despite passing her trials and gaining the rank of a Jedi knight, she wanted to help those in need not by fighting, but by healing. She had rejected the more prominent and mainstream service to dedicate herself to treating the sick and wounded of the galaxy through relief missions. Though she typically avoided galactic politics, being in the Service Corps did expose her to many Jedi who felt disillusioned with the order; as if their position in the Corps meant they weren't good enough to be knights or peacekeepers. Needless to say when the Secessionist Movement began to pick up speed and renowned Jedi master Dooku left the order, many of the Service Corps Jedi rose up in support calling for reformation. For Nyss it soon became impossible to avoid the growing division and she personally saw Dooku's rhetoric and promotion of the downtrodden as inspiring given her own experiences with how the opulent senate ignored many worlds leaving them in destitution. Her work to help those in need seemed as infinite as the stories of Republic ignorance that created many of these humanitarian crises.
It would only take several months into the Clone Wars before the baffled and upset woman left the order refusing to follow what she viewed as a council who was becoming increasingly involved in war games and politics fighting and killing more than helping the innocent victims of the conflict, the clone army themselves being amongst them to her. Her strong ideals tempered with experience of frontline hospital horrors caused Dooku to welcome her into the Separatist Acolytes without quarrel where she renounced violence and acted as true to the Jedi faith as possible while serving the Confederacy as a delegate for negotiations and an ambassador to welcome new worlds and systems into the CIS. She's become a vocal advocate against the Jedi Council as well often appearing on the shadowfeeds giving impassioned speeches on how they’ve lost their way lowering public opinion and furthering the doubt within the order back home on Coruscant. Along with a fellow former Jedi Umo, the pair remain strongly devoted to the Jedi ways and see their siding with the CIS as being part of the just and moral cause continuing to ponder the nature of the force together and using their wildly diverse comrades to expand their knowledge.
Umo on the other hand was a Melitto Jedi master and Instructor at the enclave on Bespin who dedicated his life to teaching the future generations of learners in the ways of lightsaber combat. Mastering six of the seven forms of lightsaber combat he was known for his level head and ability to read his opponents directly addressing the faults of each student and devoting much to time to individualized lessons encouraging students to adapt forms to their personalities and aptitudes rather than to change themselves to the forms. His eagerness to learn and study the ever expansive galaxy also made him a valuable source of information on a multitude of subjects though his specialty in anthropology was his main field of expertise and his wisdom helped greatly when coordinating with less integrated species of the Republic as with the aftermath of the Yinchorri Uprising. So was his place during the Clone Wars: as a general finding himself assigned in Wild Space and the fringes of the Outer Rim where he lead his troopers to many a victory only ever ceding defeat once in his military career. While he carried out his duty as a Jedi General, his personal views on the Senate were quite different.
The stories he heard from prisoners and natives of worlds forgotten or ignored by the senate in the core paired with the extensive history of abuse on many of them cast great doubt within the master and his sharing of thoughts with his men would ultimately lead to his removal as general when the Jedi Council began questioning his loyalty. Decades of service and study meant nothing to the dogmatic council focused only on the war effort and in his disbelief, Umo promptly left his duties to the Jedi without a thought as to what to do after. The abrupt loss of such a respected teacher shocked the council, though concerned with the growing conflict they let him withdraw without much quarrel.
Never would they expect that after months off the radar he would emerge as an acolyte of Dooku acting as the head of the Separatist military's security division and now preparing the disparate indigenous forces of the CIS worlds. Offering his wealth of knowledge to teach the younger acolytes and finding similar views with idealistic ex-service corps member Nyss Mir in their disappointment with the Jedi’s role in this era. When Noma Yu is brought before the acolytes, Umo is quickly made to teach her how to wield her lightsaber not as a Jedi, but for war and the coming missions ahead of her...
