The Regional Economic Development Councils are gearing up for Round Three of their regional awards! Councils across the State held their first meetings of the new year this month and are back in full swing, continuing to implement their Strategic Plans and the projects that support their vision for economic growth and prosperity. Implementation of the Buffalo Billion Plan for investment in the Buffalo Niagara region is underway! The Western New York Regional Economic Development Council met earlier this month and announced the release of its full report on the Buffalo Billion Investment Development Plan. The development plan was the result of thousands of hours of work by committed individuals and organizations like our partners at the Brookings Institute, the University at Buffalo’s Regional Institute and Buffalo Niagara Enterprise. The release of this plan kicks off the Council’s implementation of the Buffalo Billion strategic initiatives and will serve as a comprehensive roadmap for economic prosperity going forward. ESD’s Division of Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTAR) will continue to host Solutions Fairs across the state this spring following the success of those held in 2012. These hands-on, half day workshops actively match small and medium size manufacturers with the state’s technology and business resources to introduce companies to new ways to grow their business. The Solutions Fair is specifically geared to help companies overcome production, engineering and product development challenges with innovative technology solutions. The dates and locations for the Solutions Fair are: Buffalo on March 20, Syracuse on April 11, Albany on April 16 and Rochester on April 23.
