Why I’ve been MIA
Well as you know from my post the other day, it was Lucas’ FIRST birthday today... and I’ve been looking forward to and dreading the day for ages.
Over the past month or so, I’ve been crazy planning Lucas’ birthday party, I needed it to be perfect, not only for him but also for me and Matthew as it’s a pretty significant day for all of us.
This time last year (well not exactly at this time because Lucas was born at 8am on the 9th but it sounds better than yesterday last year...) we were two young 20 and 22 year olds not knowing at all what we were getting ourselves into. Going through labor together was such a significant point of our lives, a turning point for us most definitely.
We’ve spent 365 days growing together as a family. Our miracle baby boy, the only one to ever survive my uterus, has been earthside for 365 days and I have lived 365 days more than we thought I would this time last year, thank goodness.
I’m so thankful for my baby boy, for Matthew and for just being here. I’m so glad I’ve been knee deep planning the perfect first birthday for my son because 1. My son was here to celebrate his first birthday and 2. I was here to celebrate his first birthday.
So yes, over the past month or so, everything other than making sure my son had the perfect birthday went on the back burner, but I’m back now, carrying on one day at a time with my little bitty blog to help along the way.
