2. Michaela

Michaela’s shot is so cinematic! Her face is just glorious: her skin is glowing and her powerful yet serene stare into the distance is amazing (plus this really shows how stunning her eyes are). The animalistic body language is so cool, and I love the way she slanted her shoulders and kept all of the accessories on full display. Michaela was incredible this week and continued to reinforce her frontrunner status!

(side note: I feel like this is what Naima’s Kloofing shot should’ve been)

1. Danielle

Danielle gave me everything I wanted and more from this photoshoot! Her pose is so minimal but still chock full of interesting angles, and she positioned every part of her body flawlessly to let the styling shine. And that face! She has bone structure for days, she caught the light perfectly, and her eyes have a great balance of softness and hardness that really draws me in. Danielle’s shot could be straight from the pages of a high fashion magazine, she slayed this!

3. Lara

Lara’s pose is just outstanding! I have no idea how she hit that and made it appear so easy. I love how she twisted both of her arms forward while still being in profile in order to show off the bracelets, and she even kept her toes pointed at the same time. The understated surprised/caught-in-the-moment expression is fantastic as well, and her face is gorgeous straight on. Lara isn’t my choice for the top spot, but I can see how she got the FCO at panel since this is a stellar photo!

4. Nellie

Nellie’s photo isn’t the most inventive but it’s still so damn good. Her face is so magnetic, I’m loving the almost hungry intensity in her eyes and subtle evil smirk she’s giving. The hands-on-hips pose is a little basic but she struck it with so much purpose that it works, and she modeled the bracelets and rings perfectly in the process. Nellie keeps getting better!

5. Eva

The judges sort of hated Eva this week but I found her to have one of the better performances of the week. While her eyes could be connecting better I still love how haughty and regal her expression is, and she worked that voluminous neck piece like a pro. Other than her backwards left hand on the rock I love her overall pose, and she looks incredibly tall even with her crouched position and her legs cropped out. It’s another excellent showing from Eva!

6. Elza

Lose your balance but make it fashion! I don’t know if this was just pure clumsiness on Elza’s part but I love how she made it appear intentional. She filled up the frame and showcased all of the accessories quite well and I like the sense of movement here. She also finally brought it with her face and her smoldering eyes are awesome. Elza definitely upped her game!

7. Aafreen

I love the quirkiness of Aafreen’s picture. Her hunched-over posture and the bizarre placement of her arms is really unexpected in a good way. I like how she tilted her head, but this isn’t her best face shot: her eyes didn’t engage the camera well enough and there’s something off about the way she caught the light. Aafreen’s shot is far from the best but at least it’s interesting!

8. Courtenay

Courtenay served up a strong face. She handled the heavy makeup well and her eyes are so piercing. However, I’m not crazy about the pose. There’s something awkward about how she’s grabbing her side and her thigh with her hands, and her bent arm seems really out of proportion with the rest of her body. Courtenay might be a few spots higher with some tweaks to her pose.
