BEST TRACKS OF 2017-ARTISTS LIST #49
BARLEAUX
Hi-fi Bedroom pop from NYC based singer Hillary Richmond who crafts under the avatar of Barleaux. Here she explains how she picked her top tunes of the year!
What a year it’s been! Here are my picks - Sorry not sorry this list is dominated by females! It was an amazing year for women in entertainment. I can’t wait to release new music in 2018! Don’t forget to stream my album on Bandcamp!
01. Dua Lipa, “New Rules” Probably my most favorite pop song in a long time. It’s the year of the post chorus! Ultimate feel good tune. 02. Portugal The Man, “Feel it Still” Such an original sound and they really aced the marketing with this record.
03. Julia Michaels, “Issues” So glad female artists are smashing barriers of being “perfect” in their lyrics. I also love how smooth her voice is in this song.
04. O Mer, “Overflown” Great cleaning song. Production is so good…
05. The Symptoms, “Hard to Find” Cool song, cool dudes.
06. Maggie Rogers, “On + Off” Ultimate feel good dance song. I could listen to Maggie Rogers for days.
07. Blackbear, “do re mi” Ultimate break up song. Amazing drop. I will listen to pretty much anything Blackbear releases.
08. Sylvan Esso, “Die Young” Perfection.
09. VHS Collection, “So I Met Someone” I love the production, the synths… ultimate summer song.
10. Perfume Genius, “Slip Away” Best nostalgia song. I love the energy in the breakdown! He’ll probably be a household name in 2018. 11. Ra Ra Riot, “Water” Feel like throwing in the towel on that new project? Take a listen to this song about taking the plunge and going for it and you’ll feel differently. 12. Barleaux, “Syndication” Lead track from my latest release, which you can find on my Bandcamp here :) Stay tuned for more in 2018!
