Evan wasn’t sure what possessed him to go to a pub; he didn’t even like drinking, and going there alone? He just looked desperate. But he’d felt... off, since telling Gideon they were just friends. It certainly wasn’t how he felt, but he didn’t want to allow himself to get close to someone again, only to see them die. So maybe he did feel like drinking when he got there, but he’d been sat in the same spot, sipping the same beer for the past two hours, and quite frankly, it was warm and tastes bad at this point.
He should go home. He should’ve gone home long ago. But the familiar shape of the very person he was trying to forget walking in stopped him from doing so. But what made it worse was when the other started flirting with other people. He wasn’t jealous. Or at least, he was trying to convince himself he wasn’t, but he couldn’t help staring. And every second of it made him feel worse.
He was almost glad when someone sat next to him, forcing him to break his gaze from the scene. Except, when he saw it was Emrys, he knew the situation wasn’t about to get better. He really wasn’t in the mood for that, but he knew Emrys wasn’t going to stop himself from poking at him. So he brought the glass to his lips, pulling a face at the terrible taste of the warm beer.
