So kpop demon hunters... give me strength this is going be disjointed
Golden was never going to turn the Honmoon golden. I realized this not when watching the movie but at 4am driving to work. I noticed that despite it being an absolutely phenomenal song a good 80% of it is just Rumi singing by herself.
This is important because of the emphasis on comunity and not the individual. The hunters are supposed to protect the Honmoon together and golden doesnt reflect that especially when looking at What it Sounds Like that created the new Honmoon (for reference spesifically looking at the movie version) where a good pecent is the 3 of them singing together in harmony minus the intro and when the crowd joins in, comparatively in Golden Rumi is alone in the song and in the narrative.
You can also see a similar discord in Takedown (again in the movie) where Zoey and Mira take up a larger portion the the lyrics not letting Rumi's discomfort with the lyrics breath.
Anyway my point is, is that Kpop Demon Hunters does a really good job with weaving narrative into the song not just through lyrics but through the actual constitution of them and what each character puts into it and its really cool and no i havent watched it at least ten times since it first came out
