So if I am correct, Brandon has said that there can be a fabrial replicating every surge, and hypothetically every power in the cosmere.
On the topic of surges, gravitation, progression, transformation, and transportation all have fabrials replicating their abilities. However, for the other surges, how would fabrials replicate their abilities?
Adhesion is used by Windrunners and Bondsmiths, and their associated polestones are sapphire and heliodor, and they're bindspren, obviously. However, other than trapping bindspren in those polestones and wrapping them in pewter, what else could you do for the fabrial?
Maybe you could use Raysium to put the Investiture into surfaces, but I generally try to avoid using God metals, so does anyone else have any ideas about how to do this?
Or for any of the other surges, does anyone have any ideas?
“Heyo! I’ve never really read many Cosmere fics, so I was wondering if you could write your take on what would happen if Vin met Shallan. Also, have you seen Supernatural? Cus I love spn fics, and if you haven’t seen it you should it’s amazing. Thanks! :)”
Hi!! I tried to do that on this fic, I’m so nervous… They are two wonderful characters and I don’t know if I made them justice.
I have only seen the 1st season of Supernatural, but it was so long ago that I can’t recall much about the show, sorry hahaha. I’ve heard really good things about the show, though.
OATHBRINGER SPOILERS. But... not spoilers from Mistborn?? Maybe from The Final Empire
The squad were walking around shadesmar, trying to go to Thaylena’s oathgate. The ship couldn’t take them nearer the city, so they had to go with their own feet.
Shallan was tired of walking and a little bit irritated. Veil mocked her, the little noble girl who can’t go for a walk for days. She didn’t know anything about the world. She was left behind, trying to keep up but failing on doing so. Pattern was talking with Adolin, they seemed to have quite a conexion.
They didn’t walk so fast that she could lose them, not in shadesmar at least. Now and then she would look around, trying to watch any difference on the landscape. People fleeing Thaylen city, dangerous sprens… but nothing appeared. Until…
She didn’t know how she could have seen her. The lady was hiding behind a tree, strangely enough without destroying it. She was watching closely the squad and didn’t notice her. Apparently, because when Shallan was close to her, she grabbed a coin from her bag. Shallan thought nothing of that.
Veil nagged internally at Shallan, as Radiant did too. She was so imprudent, getting close to strange humans. On shadesmar! What was she doing there? Was she dangerous? Of course she was, especially with Shallan. And without Pattern as their shardblade...
“Are you lost?” asked Shallan, a bit tense. Well, she had at least a bit of awareness left in her body.
She talked in another language, a really strange one. Her voice was kinda rude, like she was having not a single bs. Thinking, Shallan pointed to herself and said her name. Would she understand? She hoped so.
“Vin” said the strange woman cautiously.
She couldn’t try to talk with her before the parshendi attack. They were flying in the sky, waiting for them. Kaladin, Adolin and the three sprens were on a small hill, looking at the oathgate and the giant sprens who guarded it.
When the fight at Thaylen was over, Shallan went to speak with the lady. She saw her fighting and that impressed her. The way she moved, the way she killed parshendi with coins. With coins! How could that be possible?
Vin, on the other side, looked for her. She couldn’t believe her eyes, was that person a kandra? But the way she changed her body… she hadn’t seen a kandra transform, but it was impossible that they would do it so fast. And without corpses… how? That planet was completely crazy.
They found each other finally and, for a moment, they only could look into their eyes. The both of them were tense, but they didn’t attack. They were evaluating each other.
“Are you a Kandra, aren’t you?”Asked Vin.
Shallan looked at her like she couldn’t understand a word she was saying. Of course, the language was different, She wasn’t interested in learning the local language, Elend would know it. But Elend wasn’t there, with her.
“Vin?” asked a familiar voice. Indeed, it was Elend, exiting the ray of light that had appeared earlier.
She went with him and hugged him. How had he found her? Well, the light was probably visible on the Cognitive realm as well.
“We have to leave, Vin. they are waiting” he smiled at her and watched around “a friend of yours?”
“I think she is a kandra” told her, tense again.
“Hi, I’m Elend” he stretched his hand, so the strange woman could grab it. The strange woman, indeed, did not grab it “Only for our curiosity, are you a kandra?”
“A what?” asked Shallan, confused.
Elend looked at Vin and smiled at her. Of course, if she was really a Kandra, she wouldn’t tell them.
“It has been a pleasure meeting you. Now, we have to leave. Good bye and… good luck” he said the last part as a thaylen bunch of people were retiring debris from a house and looking for survivors.
They left through the perpendicularity. For the rest of the day, while she was helping everyone, she couldn’t stop thinking about her. As Vin couldn’t stop thinking about that strange kandra she had just met.
