ok so. i noticed that many of the aons are incredibly complicated. so, i thought that it would be if not impractical, just annoying to have to draw those symbols every day just to write. the one in the rightmost side is the original aon for reo, this one stood out to me as especially difficult. I think that in the world of elantris, it would be semi common practice to write in shorthand with simplified signs. so i designed the two symbols in the middle and on the left. i wasn’t sure that the middle was simple enough, so i made another.
i have more thoughts. I think that some people, maybe those who are more conservative or just people who like to, would still write the full symbol. i think that it would be slightly more common for younger people to use the most simplified version, along with those whose job is related to writing. and i think that your average joe who isn’t below 30 uses the middle symbols, but the more simple version is gaining popularity.
