Hannibal is living the dream life. (The dream life is a life with Will Graham.) But Will has been quiet and withdrawn, still drowning a little in the frigid Atlantic, and Hannibal is bent on figuring out a way to draw him out of his shell, whether that be by an exercise regimen, cooking lessons, some books, or a dash of murder. He’s flexible.

And anyway, watching Will do any of those things is something Hannibal would actually pay to do.

(Okay, not sure if this is five hundred words, BUT:) "But what Alfred forgets is that Arthur’s always been like that, foolish and stubborn and perpetually in denial; he forgets that Arthur is, surprisingly, a damn good actor when he has to be, and disturbingly proficient at hiding behind thick novels and books of poetry." GO!

So one of the things I adore is the brotherly dynamic between Arthur and Alfred. I just, I love it. I think that they're just the biggest dorks ever and I have so much fun portraying that relationship in my writing.

Re: Arthur, I think he's lonely (at least in this fic). I think he's lonely and he knows it but he hides it because he's not the sort of person to tell anybody about it, and it's just the way he's been all his life. I think he's an intensely private person, even to those who are close to him. okay, in other words, he's me And because it's Arthur, I always have to pay homage to literature, so I always make literary references when it comes to him, even if it's sort of clichéd.

Oh! And the poetry thing was always going to be there. "i carry your heart" is one of the loveliest poems ever - as you well know! - and I'd always wanted to use it in a fic.
