DailyPBO: The President & Katrina 10th Anniversary - New Orleans, LA - August 2015

President Obama traveled to New Orleans today to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Katrina. His first stop was Treme, one of the oldest black neighborhoods in America, and the subject of the recent HBO David Simon series, Treme.

Yes, the recovery needs to be stronger for ALL areas which Obama also acknowledged. But for today, and for these black Americans, a visit from the nation’s first African American president meant something. Unlike ten years ago, the local citizens hit so hard by the storm were treated with the respect and dignity that they deserve. Bravo, Mr. President.
