Art For @shadowsong26x ‘s fic Under this shattered sky for @swbigbang . Please go check them out! The story is really good.
Really enjoyed working on them and trying out new techniques that blend traditional and digital. Might do more of that in the future.
So tonight my daughter joined me (and the cat who loves Anakin) while I was watching TCW S07 E09 (Old Friends Not Forgotten). She is ten and has never really shown a ton of interest in SW, but she knows I like it and she really digs what little she’s seen of Ahsoka in earlier TCW seasons.
Please allow me to share a portion of our conversation, because I cannot keep it to myself.
Daughter [as Anakin gives Ahsoka her lightsabers]: I think I ship Ahsoka and Anakin.
Me [attempting to regain my composure after choking on my milkdud]: Oh? You… ship people?
Daughter: Well yeah if they’re cute together.
Me [Fine. Totally fine. She’s ten. Is this normal? Am I having this conversation? Am I about to say something I’m going to regret?]: That makes sense. I do too, actually. But Ahsoka and Anakin seem too much like brother and sister for me to ship.
Daughter: Oh. Well maybe. I didn’t think of them like that.
Me: Well, the cool thing is that you don’t have to. Like, you can take fictional characters and make them however you want them to be in your head.
Daughter: I know, right?
Me: I think Obi-Wan and Anakin make a cute couple, actually.
Daughter [staring, incredulous]:
Daughter [less incredulous]:
Daughter [pensive]:
Daughter: You know, I can totally see that.
Me: Yeah?
Daughter: Yeah. I mean, that would make them gay, but that’s fine. They act like old married people. It’s cute.
Listen everyone, after some careful review I’m not going to be posting anymore master/padawan relationship things on here unless it’s platonic. I was groomed as a child and while I am largely pro ship and do not support the harassment of others at all, aspects of these ships have begun to bother me in a romantic context given my background and the good points of others posts on here. This blog was created primarily as a means to express my relational trauma with Anakin and my thoughts on his character meta/mental health, so it’s not super relevant to have ships on here anyways. I hope you all enjoy what you like on your own but I’m not doing ships here anymore except to discuss them within the context of cannon.
I truly hope you all understand and don’t take any of this personal. Thanks all
Anakin: maybe I’m not good enough or worthy of love :(
Obi-wan, hitting Anakin over the head with a rolled-up newspaper: stop that
i know anakin is like. deeply emotionally disturbed and all that but my favorite characterization of him is a destructive border collie with separation anxiety
anakin: obi-wan isn’t here so i’m gonna commit a mass murder
padme: why on earth would you do that??
anakin: he’s like 95% of my impulse control
thewillowbends replied to your post: So my dash did this...
Not gonna lie. I always felt like Satine was thrown into TWC because even the producers were like, “IDK this is pretty gay,” though ultimately all that episode shows is that Anakin is way too invested in Obi Wan’s love life.
I have nothing to add other than this reply deserves to be seen by the world at large.
