Happy Pride Month! Ship Edition

I want to talk about some of my favorite LGBT+ ships... which there are a lot of; these contain my main OTPs from 2025 to now. I mentioned a lot of them in my prior character and ship posts. But if you want to see the prior posts from 2024 and before, check them here!

First up KazuRei from Buddy Daddies!

Last year, when the voice of Rei Suwa was coming to a con, I knew I wanted to watch this cause, I kid you not, people said, "This is like Spy x Family if it were gay"... and honestly, yeah. I'M SO SAD WE'RE NEVER GETTING A SECOND SEASON (I'm not THAT delulu). This was such a wholesome watch on just two guys raising a girl.

Next up SasaMiya from Sasaki and Miyano!

Oh, SasaMiya, my beloveds! I related a little too much to Miyano (and understood way more fudanshi/fujoshi terms than I thought I would), but these were just the cutest! And they're canon! Honestly, my favorite moment is when Miyano confirms with Sasaki that they're boyfriends, skipping the whole "are we actually dating" plot in BL.

Next up is Reguri/OriginalShipping from Pokemon!

This... was a bit of a surprise. I think I entered a Pokémon sometime last year for whatever reason. I'm trying to think of why, but I'm drawing a blank. I do know it was during the summer, and I really got into Reguri fics. And I got way too analytical over Blue. BUT LET'S BE REAL! They were totally on an Alolan Honeymoon in Sun and Moon. No one just travels with their rival for purely platonic reasons.

Next up is GenTan from Demon Slayer!

I didn't really have strong "Demon Slayer" ships before these two, like I was pretty neutral on a lot of them... the closest was maybe ZenTan, but these two? THESE TWO WON MY HEART IN THEIR ARC! Honestly, I wish there was a GIF of my favorite moment where I'm certain Genya fell for Tanjiro when he just realized his one-sided rivalry was one-sided because Tanjiro was so supportive of him, and Genya was in his half-demon state with all shoujo bubbles.

Next up is Chaggie/Chaggi from Hazbin Hotel!

I only got into Hazbin Hotel... maybe a little before season two came out, either in full or before it started. I just remembered watching these and adoring them. We don't talk about established relationships before the series starts, and it's a guilty pleasure for me. PLUS HOT TAKE: "EASY" WAS ONE OF THE BEST HAZBIN HOTEL SONGS!

And of course, I can't mention Chaggie without mentioning HuskerDust!

This was a ship I knew I would like (which crazy take; I like Chaggie more than these in terms of preference) because... well, just look at them! But funny story: "Loser Baby" got me "okay, I can ship them," but then Husk's pan panic at Angel in drag made me go "OH HELL YEAHHHHHHH!" Please, save Angel in the next season! PLEASE!!!

Next up is... AkiAngel from Chainsaw Man!

I was hoping Tumblr had that very specific scene from the movie, iykyk. Because what do you mean, Aki, a man running out of time, willingly gives more time to Angel, a man who takes time, to save him? Like WHAT? What's funny is that I watched this after my sibling already watched the film, and they straight up went, "the doomed yaoi was a surprise," and with that, I NEEDED to watch it. Now, I'm gonna put "Out of Touch" on repeat while I put the entry.

And that next entry is... ShiGuang from Link Click!

Oh, I watched this in November because I heard Zeno Robinson (voice of Lu Guang) was coming to town, and I have NO REGRETS! This was one of the best series I watched in a while. But, oh god, do you need to be prepared for pain. I can't wait for the next season... but please don't break me I'M BEGGING FOR HAPPINESS!

Coming up is another black x white ship... Shin Soukoku from Bungou Stray Dogs!

Let me tell ya... they have taken over my life, and it's the point I'm essentially making a long AU fic with them (if you know me, think like my BNHA x Sailor Moon fic) because that's how you know I love a series. CAUSE OH MY GOD ARE THEY SO GOOD! THE WHITE X BLACK, THE BLUE X RED, THE TIGER X DRAGON, THE YIN AND YANG! THEY'RE PRACTICALLY MADE FOR EACH OTHER (I got so excited my hand legit cramped y'all). Gosh, I can't wait for the next arc to be animated for a specific scene, AND THEY BETTER INCLUDE IT. I KNOW WHAT YOU TOOK OUT, BONES YOU FUCKERS! Gosh, what a ship to end 2025 on, and they're still here almost halfway through 2026. I predict they may or may not be on the same level as BKDK.

Transitioning from the last ship of 2025 to the first ship of 2026 with VaNoe from Case Study of Vanitas

Gosh, what a pair to start on! I immediately fell in love with this series because why wouldn't I? I still haven't finished the anime because I don't want to not have content for them, BECAUSE WHY THE FUCK IS THE FANDOM SO DEAD IN TERMS OF FICS! Gosh I love them so much.

Next up might be familiar with ShadowVanilla from Cookie Run!

I know for sure I placed them in one of the ship posts... however, that was before they took over my mind. I think for a good two months I was only reading ShadowVanilla fics. So special second mention because they've been promoted from a ship I enjoy to OTP status. Gosh, I am HYPED for the current story in the game. I can't wait for this toxic yaoi to get even more toxic.

Next up is one... I'm unsure if they fit the bill but in my heart they do with Rankane from Ranma 1/2

This side of the ship is why I'm counting them. If you looked at my character post for trans/nonbinary/non-cis characters, I see Ranma as Genderfluid. Akane loves Ranma no matter what gender she's presenting as. And honestly, I love me some good yuri Rankane... the fandom should draw more of them on that specific side.

Next up the first poly ship of this post ObiZenYuki from Snow White with the Red Hair!

The fact that this is the only GIF with the three saddens me deeply. They all belong together, and nothing you can say will change my mind. ZenYuki is canon, yet they always bring Obi around. Did we not see Obi and Zen having so many intimate moments? Obi is so devoted to them. LET THEM ALL KISS AND HOLD HANDS!

Next up, let's share a canon one or at the very least, a ship with canon queer character in YoshiKaru from The Summer Hikaru Died!

Gosh, I watched this during Spring Break, and man... I was so hyped. My jaw dropped the whole time. Oh, Yoshiki, the baby gay you are. The speech where he saw himself as a monster broke my heart, but it assures me it can only go up from here... Please, I want them to be happy.

Next up is a very new one (kinda) for me, but I love them in Karmagisa from Assassination Classroom!

Oh wow... me enjoying a blue x red ship in the year 2026? Who could've guessed? This series was always on my back burner because I knew I would get obsessed with them. I was legit just waiting around for a good reason. Well, a good reason found... the voice of Karma came to a con in April. BUT THIS SHIP WEIRDLY FELT TARGETED AT ME TO A LEVEL THAT WAS ALMOST SSKK LEVEL! Like as I said, blue x red. But we got childhood friends (kinda), rivalry, and some big fight between the two. You know I have to love this ship a LOT considering I already wrote a fic on them... it's a Shrek AU but my point stands.

Next up is HuaLian from Heaven's Official Blessing!

In the famous words of Danny Motta... "I cannot take another season of you two verbally edging each other... this has to be the season you FU-". Anyway, this was another ship I knew I would love and was just waiting for a reason to consume (again, Xie Lian's VA came to town). I'm currently still on the first volume of the light novels. But I'm kinda taking my time letting these simmer because I did scream a lot during the donghua. And I refuse to read fics until I'm caught up with the light novels more.

And to finish this year's pride posts we got Arkco from Witch Hat Atelier!

I'm saddened to see we haven't made enough of the sappy GIFs with them, but it's still early! I was hoping someone would make the GIF where they hugged at least, but this is fine. Look, I ship MadoHomu, Lumity, BakuDeku, and so much more. Me shipping this more than Orufrey (it's still early; they might show up in the 2027 post) should come as no surprise. I can't wait to see more of them!

Whether you see Obi confessing to liking both Zen and Shirayuki as a love triangle or a potential polycule, I think it's so fucking special and important that it happened.

If it does remain a love triangle, it's the healthiest love triangle I have ever seen in media and is certainly the only properly accurate love triangle I've seen. I say this truly and genuinely.

Obi has never shown any jealousy toward Zen and Shirayuki's relationship, nor any interest in getting in between them. He has, instead, dedicated his life to making sure that they are both happy and safe. What truly makes him happy, is seeing them happy.

While he has shown to be contemplating and waiting for the right time to confess to Shirayuki, he has been meticulously careful regarding when he will do so, so that it will not get in the way of or distract her and Zen from their goals.

And if it does become a canonical polycule, well, it's important because it'd be one of the few true canonical polycule ships in media, at least I've seen. It's also important to remember, in regards to this, that Zen confessed back.

Perhaps most do not interpret Zen's, "I've been a fan of yours for a while" statement as romantic, which, so be it, you are free to believe whatever you wish, but in the middle of a romantic confession from Obi, I personally cannot interpret it any other way.

Shirayuki has continually reiterated how important Obi is to her, and how he inspires her just as much as Zen does. How his arrival in Lilias made it clear to her just how much she wants to move forward with her goals of being the best herbalist and "ally" to Clarines and Zen possible, and to earn Izana's respect, by aiming to work as Wirant castle. How him just being there motivated her to truly choose and cement that as her goal.

So, if it is revealed, at some point if and/or when Obi finally confesses to her, that she also returns those feelings, than I know that it won't be a surprise, "out of the blue", or "forced", as I know some people will certainly try to claim it is.

And, of course, Obi's canonical bisexuality alone makes him, his relationships to Shirayuki and Zen, and the confession, extremely special. Bisexual men do not get a lot of rep in media, and if Zen truly does love Obi back, as I wholeheartedly believe, then that would make two bisexual men in one series.

I also think Shirayuki is bisexual, with several instances of her shown to be in awe of, and blushing, at pretty women, including Kiki in the bath scene. So, that makes THREE bisexual characters, in one series, all potentially in a love triangle OR future polycule.

In any case, I adore zenyuki, and while I don't ship specifically obiyuki by itself, I do ship obizenyuki, and whether or not their relationship stays as a love triangle or progresses into a polycule, I'm happy.
