I knew I was kin with someone from Oblivion (which I assumed was why I liked Skyrim so much) but I think I also just got kinfeels about my own dragonborn...

Canon: Hero of Kvatch - TES Oblivion

So I’m complete crud at typing out canoncalls as nice as the ones I see around, but I still wanna get all the facts of my lives down. Maybe a crappily written list might sound familiar to someone? Or at least be a bit of an interesting read to passers-by. All the facts under the cut!

* I was a Breton named Amarantha.

* I lived in Cyrodiil with my mother, but she died when I was in my early teens. I lived in the inns and stables of whatever town I was in, depending on what work I could pick up.

* In my mid-teens I tried to pickpocket Lucien Lachance on the street and in a bargain for my life, I agreed to take one of his contracts and trade my life for a stranger’s. Once I completed that contract, I accepted his invitation into the Dark Brotherhood.

* Vicente took me under his wing during my time there, teaching me to read and write, as well as subtlety, manipulation, and the finer arts of being an assassin.

* Pretty much the whole Sanctuary was a family to me in every sense of the word. The sense of home and warmth was incredible; there was nothing else like it.

* I was in my early to mid twenties when I took the contract to kill Valen Dreth, the dark elf in the Imperial Prison. I snuck into the prison and slipped into a cell when I heard the guards and the emperor coming down the hall, sparking the events that led me to Kvatch, the first Oblivion gate, and Martin Septim.

This is where my memories get a little fewer and further between. What little I know is: 

* Martin and I were pretty close friends. We’d talk for hours when I was at Cloud Ruler Temple, and send letters back and forth when I was out trying to close the gates. It was during that point in time that I started to get feelings for him, but I have no idea if he ever knew.

* I also felt pretty guilty whenever he was having a hard time. Reading through the Xarxes, stressing over being emperor, worrying over Dagon and the days to come, all of it I felt was my fault, since I was the one that had to find him and bring him to the Temple in the first place.

* After the crisis ended and Dagon was defeated, I tried to find anything I could to fill the void and help me grieve. About that time, the gate to the Shivering Isles appeared in Niben Bay.

* I worked for Sheogorath, took over for him after the March of Jyggalag, and lived as the Madgod, putting as much of my past out of my mind as I could. For all intents and purposes, I tried to live as a different person, shutting my memories out to keep from going insane.

* Time works differently in Oblivion than it did out in Tamriel, so the next time I left the Isles to see what was happening in the world, two hundred years had gone by and Alduin was terrorizing Skyrim. 

* I decided to give a hand to the cause, partially out of boredom and partially because Martin’s death messed with me something fierce. Guilt over seeing him die turned into a hatred of Dagon and Akatosh both, for being responsible for his death. Because of Akatosh’s connection to dragons, this morphed into a hatred of dragonkind as a whole and I was only too happy to deplete their number.

Aaaaand so far that’s all I know! Maybe it sounds familiar to someone, or at least wasn’t a total waste of time to read. Thanks for making it this far, hope you’re having a wonderful day!

I beat the main questline of Oblivion and holy fuck,, I am SAD. It gave me a ton of sad kin memories. Martin, if you're out there, I hope you're doing alright now. - A Khajiit Champion of Cyradiil
