Interesting Info:

The translation of オブソミー to direct English easily loses the intended pun. The title reads as “Obso-Meat” instead of “Obsolete Meat”. Quite smart, honestly.

32ki follows up the ever famous (and copied) “Mesmerizer” with this catchy tune. It’s pretty clear and obvious what the message is here. While Mesmerizer was a conversation on getting lost in phases and trends to a point of losing our true selves in the process, ObsoMeat is the “you literally just proved me right”.

Obsomeat does a great job in pointing out over consumption and over indulgence not just in the Vocaloid community but in our every day lives. The fact that we just keep eating, and eating, and eating. We will repeat and fixate on the same one thing, stripping it of it’s unique characteristics until it’s unrecognizable slop and move onto the next thing, while simultaneously making fun of the last thing we enjoyed for being “cringe” or “over saturated”.

Not every song that uses Miku and Teto is a “Slop Mesmerizer” copy song. I personally really enjoy songs like “Daidaidai-Kirai” (Amaamala). But there is a very clear phenomenon of “Mesmerizer Copycats” occurring. Copying is the greatest form of flattery and all that, but in the end it’s tarnishing what is an incredible song, and an incredible producer. I can understand if 32Ki is feeling frustrated over the current state of their song. If I was them I’d be writing Unhappy Refrain levels of music right now tbh. I’m glad to see they are sticking to their guns and making what they love.

Enjoy what you like. Savor it. Appreciate it for what it is. Appreciate the time and effort that goes into it and the people behind it.
