Obstacle Course Project. Work In Progress.

This is the progress of my animation on Obstacle Course Project to show at the crit. So far I finished creating the background environment/obstacles. It really took me a while as this was my first time creating something like that in a 3D space in After Effects. Especially hard was figuring out the camera movement. Well, it was tough at first because I had to redo it a few times after messing up. But I figured it out and learnt from my mistakes. As for the animation itself I roughly drew some frames just to see how it is going to look, and test the perspective. I'm definitely going to finish it!

Obstacle Course Project Reference

I was really excited about this project, and almost instantly I had parkour obstacles in mind. I felt like I should try make the most of this project and started to watch tons of videos for inspiration. I was always interested in freerun and parkour and I love doing it myself. So understanding of the movement when overcoming obstacles was already in my mind. I just needed some references for better angles and nicer shots. Parkour origins comes from France. I was always admired of the rooftops in Paris. That’s why I chose it for my animation as inspiration. (Well, if I can’t do it in Paris at the moment, at least I can animate it!)

Obstacle Course Project Background test.

I have decided to try and create a 3D background in after effects (which is basically “2.5D”). I have never done that before, so I had some difficulties at first. But later on I found out and learned a lot of things during the creating process. This test is to get a sense of what the background is going to look like.
