i'm really curious about the books/anime/whatever that inspire your writing the most, not just the writing style but also the characterization and references :0?
i've mentioned here that my writing style was mostly inspired by vladimir nabokov's! i really like his poetic style, and also ogawa yōko's simplistic one. i wanted to write in a way that's simple and poetic, but then i thought that isn't that too, idk, plain? so, i just began incorporating mythology and references which i suppose many people know me for, since it makes what already has layers have more layers, i think! i've always also wanted to write a dreamy style (which somehow only happens with certain second person perspectives of mine, sigh, i'm working on it) like the way miaki sugaru makes me feel.
i'm not sure if i got inspired by a particular anime in terms of writing style though, hmm, maybe the atmosphere of tenshi no tamago inspired me since it's very dreamy and it doesn't have much dialogue which i prefer a lot. i like writing descriptions than dialogue, which is probably kind of obvious. and also, kaijuu no kodomo and maquia are my beloved muses!
the characterization, i suppose, is based on real life and my own personal feelings. i've always been a more socially aware kid and was sensitive about interacting with others / how to fit in. so when i say yaguchi yatora hit me like a truck because i was literally looking at myself i am not understating. as creepy as it sounds, i've always liked to watch how people interact with one another and was very hyper-aware of my feelings and the people around me, so the characterizations are definitely based on real life. my school has a huge diversity of people so i get lots of inspirations from everyone. and it's the everybody knows everybody type of school so yes.
the references are only there to make me feel better tbh and it boils down to: what i've read before, mythology, and / or flowers. i really, really like flower language. i don't know where i got it from? i'm really not sure but it just happened one day and i never stopped. and flowers make everything poetic, to be really, really honest.
