Updated Derrick's reference for 2026. I didn't add much, but I'm a lot happier with this version's proportions.

A Desert Trip
Joining a Heroes Unlimited game with Derrick, it took me way too long to come back and finish this token art for him. Normally, you only get like 2-3 superpowers, but this campaign's not a normal one either, so he's gonna have a whole bunch of things at his disposal.
One year later:
I finally came back to Derrick to do some maintenance. Turns out opening your mouth immediately after leaving saltwater is still gonna get something damaged- and this time, it happens to be the voice box. Go figure, that's one of the most important parts! Hope he can fix it before that storm rolls in, it looks nasty.
This pic was done for the Hetherev prompt, "Little Mermaid: you can't speak all of a sudden."
Hetherev Ocean Prompt 1-A: Breathe (you can't)
Derrick's shell has short-term waterproofing, but it can't hold up forever before it inevitably starts to leak in.
I joined an art Discord and instead of bringing Bori (which was so tempting), I brought Derrick! However, I needed to make an updated reference of him- and given I'm giving him a hard reset involving an original story and world of mine, he's not fully robot anymore. He's a Wermitt now! I'll put details beneath a readmore to avoid stretching out folks' dashboards.
Hey what if Derrick found @eldrxtch's Lokee in the water and wasn't exactly graceful about scooping him out? I don't think he'd like that.
A sequel to the last Derrick comic! On his homeworld, oceans are... Well, they already rust metal pretty quick, but 20 minutes of grace isn't that long when you think about it. He's just lucky to have found land as quickly as he did!
But lack of familiarity with the seas means you have no idea what lives in them- and in his case, he's not used to oceans that have much of any life at all. So what's this little thing that has come to say hello?
