More seriously, meet Dirge, the gravedigger moth. He has a tragic past, is covered in dirt and never goes anywhere without his shovel. Seer is his aunt. He’s wearing a ceremonial funeral mask.
Also, he’s been dead for a looong time but very few people know that, he’s very good at pretending being alive.
He adopts Chime in one of my AUs.
I had no idea how to draw his body so it kinda looks like a vessel’s but oh well it’s fine.
Yeah, I had been thinking about it for a while, given how I wasn’t very happy with his body. I decided to make him more similar to Hollow Knight’s moths, particularly Thistlewind, and it meant More Floof. ALL THE FLOOF. Made his wings darker too, gave him a little fluffly cape/shawl like thing - I’m pretty satisfied with it for now. (Who knows how long it’ll last lol).
And yes, Dirge is a pseudonym ! He was named Orchid by his parents, but then, well, the moths all died and he started to go by Dirge as a sign of mourning.
Meeting in the Resting Grounds feat. Loud Baby and Sad Boi
Because of course I have an AU where Dirge adopts Chime, they suit each other very well. (Also, musical theme for my HK OCs it seems)
Note that Chime is still small in this drawing, and doesn’t have his hammer, or even his shorts yet lol.
A new part of the Chime and Dirge saga, feat. a Dirge wishing Chime wasn’t so reckless.
I really like Chime’s pose in this one ! On the other hand, Dirge’s anatomy is terrible, and I’m considering redesigning their body (under the wings). Maybe add fur/layers, like Thistlewind’s ?
Setting: Project Starcraft AU, set 25 years or so into the future.
Length: Short, 3 paragraphs.
Warnings: None apart from possible story spoiler for my mercenary storyline.
Not sure if I'm going to use this in the story yet. For now it's a raw, unedited drabble that I liked enough to share. This doesn't happen too often but I want to get in the habit of sharing these little story snippets. C:
Also Dirge's injury that I mention below is possible, had a similar injury myself. Went on a shooting weekend with Sea Cadets and shot live 7.62 rifles. Didn't hold the rifle in properly first time and ended up having to go to A&E and wait for 3 hours at 11pm at night because I thought I'd broken my collar bone when I came back home. Was in a lot of pain to the point I felt sick having my t-shirt rest on the collar bone. It is possible to break your collar bone if you don't hold the rifle in properly (according to an Army medic mum knows) but luckily I just badly bruised my pectoral muscle. Like Dirge, lesson learnt. :B EDIT: Just noticed the comma abuse, sorry about that folks! /cringes/
Dirge lay with the sniper rifle laying between his shoulder but below his collar bone. Never on the collar bone, Dirge only made that mistake once in basic training and had paid for it with a hairline fracture and a very sore bruised pectoral muscle attributed to the rifle's powerful recoil. The rifle it's self was an old but modified military sniper rifle, the precise model had gone out of service years ago but was easily obtainable on the black markets if you knew where to look.
Dirge exhaled softly as he ran his hand down the stock before returning it to rest on the grip. It was a little ritual of his and it allowed him to detach from reality and become one with the rifle. Dirge was acutely aware that his ritual probably contributed towards his delusional episodes but that didn't matter right now. If he let himself feel he couldn't make a living as a mercenary. There were more important things right now, such as his targets. He listened carefully to the information being relayed to him via a discreet earpeice, intercepted comms suggested his main target was running 5 minutes late. Not a problem, Dirge was ready to go at a moment's notice but none the less he couldn't allow himself to become complacent in the mean time, he had to keep a close eye on the streets below because it wasn't unheard of for such information to be inaccurate, words sometimes got lost in the ambient chatter in the background of his base's control room even though it was relayed directly to him.
Dirge couldn't help but feel anxious, the mission was easy. Too easy for his liking. But in this day and age he didn't have the luxury to be picky over what jobs he took on and what he declined.
