"Have you checked your back?"
Anyway.
Mia going mute to process all the bullshit is canon in the Mianda verse as well. Woman's just trying to be a good mom and not fuck up her kid.
Enjoy some older Evette and a post-Miranda Mia
"Don't touch my MOM!"
"Mom...?"
Mia paused in her cleaning, turning to the source of the inquiry.
A girl stood in the doorway of the hall, leaning against it with a haggard posture.
Like she was tired.
Defeated.
Worn-out.
"Are you done with work?"
Mia frowned. "I--who are..."
The girl smiled lightly. "You wouldn't know me. She doesn't even realize I know who you are."
Mia raised a brow. "She?"
The girl sagged. "Nevermind."
Mia blinked, just now realizing what the girl had called her. "Hang on, who--?"
The girl rolled her shoulders as she pushed off the wall.
"Forget I said anything." She hummed, turning to walk down the hall while Mia shot forward after her.
"Hang on, I'm not don--!" She grasped the girl's arm, attempting to pull her back.
All that came were feathers.
Black feathers.
Crows feathers.
Mia frowned and reluctantly went back to work.
The feathers never left her mind.
Lmao
Crow child angst.
I just imagine Mia finally gears up from Duke to kill Miranda. She saves Evett and leaves her with Alcina and others, before going back to finish the bitch, she needs to do it herself. Even if Miranda will manage to kill Mia, Lords will finish the job and take care of baby.
It probably feels kind of good for Mia to gear up and be so close to an ending.
She knows it's stupid to go in alone (in fact, Heisenberg and Alcina both express how idiotic it is, and that she should take at least one of them with her), but whether it's her being stubborn, or not wanting anyone else hurt, or just a deep seeded need for retribution, she's determined to do it alone. She has to. And it's clear they aren't going to convince her otherwise.
If Miranda kills her, she has no doubt the Lords will finish Miranda off themselves and take care of Evette.
And if she kills Miranda... Well, it'll feel really fucking good. Like a weight being lifted. Maybe she can finally have something of a happy life.
Either way, Miranda gets what she deserves and they all get their freedom.
And really that's all Mia wants.
Melony when anybody slightly raises their voice at her:
Elizabeta when they accidentally say something stupid for the 6th time that day:
Max when the Family treats him like shit for simply existing:
Emilia, Evette, Fane, and all my other OCs when I forget they exist:
I-9 for Miranda & D-9 for Evette = Baby Bird finally kicks Miranda's Ass.
Evette, as an adult: Yeah, I'm not a violent person.
Miranda: *Breathes*
Evette: YOU READY TO FUCKING D I E?
“What you doing?”
Mia nearly jumped out of her skin at the voice, half expecting to turn and be met with Miranda’s sharp glare, but only finding Evette staring at her with wide curious eyes. A huff of smoke escaped her as she sighed in relief, the five year old tugging at her own dress sleeves that were still a bit too long for her.
“I thought you were with your mother.” She rolled the cigarette between her fingers nervously, taking a quick glance around the lab. The young girl shrugged.
“Sent me home.” She said it so nonchalant. Well, as nonchalant as she could, and Mia’s jaw tightened.
“Again?” She rubbed the bridge of her nose, taking a far too long drag from the cigarette and blowing the smoke out the window. “I keep telling her to stop that. She shouldn’t make you walk home by yourself….”
If the girl agreed with her, she didn’t say it. Instead, she pointed to the cigarette. “What that?”
Mia clicked her tongue. “A smoke. Al-...Lady Dimitrescu… gave it to me.” It was probably more accurate to say she had asked for one and had just gotten lucky Alcina had extra. That she was somewhat desperate for a stress relief and even if the cigarette didn’t do shit for her in the end, it was better than nothing. But she didn’t think the girl needed to know that. “I would say don’t tell your mother, but she’ll probably find out anyway. She always does….” She muttered the last part bitterly, flicking the butt of the cigarette out between the bars in front of the window.
“Stinks.”
The older woman gave a slightly amused smile. “Yeah, it does….” She hummed in agreement, giving the girl a gentle pat on the head before practically collapsing onto the bed. “Evette?”
The girl gave a small hum, climbing onto the bed to sit beside her.
“She never… hurts you, right? Like…” Mia paused for a moment, and suddenly she could feel all the marks on her body at once. “I know I’ve never seen her do it, but she doesn’t hit you, does she? When you two are alone?”
Evette stared at her like she didn’t understand the question. Maybe she didn’t. Maybe it was an unnecessary one. Miranda told her countless times she’s never hit a child, but if Mia was honest she didn’t trust the woman enough to believe that. God knows she would yell at the girl until Evette was a sobbing mess unless Mia intervened. That usually ended in getting yelled at herself, but better her than a child.
Mia looked to the girl when she still didn’t answer, getting something of an unreadable expression. Evette decided to simply lay on to of her and nuzzle herself under Mia’s chin. The only woman sighed, placing a hand on the small brunette’s head and wrapping her other arm around her torso. The smell of smoke was going to rub off on her, at least that’s what Mia assumed.
Miranda would have a field day with her for that.
Frankly, Mia didn’t care.
