Quick lasso tool sketches. They are playing!!
Some older things with Khel-Gar. As you can see she's always been the author's "favorite child"...

Oh I love my old art! Makes me remember the joy of fairytale stories agan at the time I became so invested in my post apocalyptic worlds. I really need to do some worldbuilding for this story, but I feel too exhausted to really sit and think about it. Everything new I create is nothing more than vibes at this point.
Forest creatures of dragon island world, many from the dragon island itself (2022-2023)
These are agressive, but not exactly "evil". First one (two images, same beast) attacks people who walk too deep into the Forest; they say the best you can do upon encountering one is to return the way you came, stepping on your own footprints. Second is almost peaceful, but will destroy everything on it's way when all the forest spirits hear the Call to attack. It also eats anything people plant on Forest's land, not letting them turn forest into the fields for their crops. Third one won't let people hunt, protecting the large prey — alive prey, wounded or already dead. Last one is the worst, since it doesn't really need a reason to attack (or so it seems; it emerges from the underground without any signs to help predict it and destroys houses. Maybe it has to do something with people digging into the ground for making wells and whatnot).
These are more intelligent and outright malicious. First one often scares and even kidnaps travellers on a few roads what run through the Forest. It can unnaturally stretch its limbs and neck, and for this it's name in some cultures translates to "clay animal". Second one is very rare but very dangerous. It has some telekinesis power
Imitators haunt communities from the times of old legends to the present day. They pretend to be human, and can do this for decades before actually strike and start sow dissension and divide people. Luckily average mimic has only one human skin and can not disguise itself again after said skin is destroyed (one big cut will be enough). They also most often are very beautiful by the standards of age and place they live in, so if several imitators from the same city were standing in a row, you could see that they all look alike.
This one is a mix of two groups above. But it does not hide, it wants worship and obedience, as it pretends to be the local deity for some village on the edge of Ancient Forest and tries to lure villagers into some kind of trap. Also this is a type of evil spirit that Khel-Gar is most closely related to.
Speaking of which. This is Khel-Gar when she was small. Not really a child, she was born ready to do some wicked shit, but small and inexperienced.
And this is a siren. They are imitators of mermaids. And they hunt not only human sailors, but true mermaids as well, their songs causing mermaids to strand themselves on the shore.
Bad news is that sirens are dangerous not only near the sea shores. They also can be found in flooded caves (nightmare fuel), in still fresh water and even village wells. And they are ok with drying out, able to live for quite a long time above the surface. Even their fins resemble amphibian legs.
And these are different kind of creatures entirely. They are not from the Forest, but from the ocean, and they are neutral. Scary though (except for the third, it is really small)
And this is just a big ancient animal
