Name: Maestro
Gender: Male (He/Him)
Sexuality: Pansexual
Age: Unknown, human equivalent approximately mid 40’s
Height: 177 cm / 5’10” (Humanoid form), ???? (True Form)
Species: Monster (Shade)
Monster Sub-Type (Shade): Made more of living shadow than flesh, Shades are notoriously cautious and don’t often reveal themselves to those outside of immediate family or friends— and even this is rare, since Shades rarely congregate in large groups and leave family units shortly after reaching adulthood. This secretive nature has lead to many negative stereotypes about Shades in general, though they remain one of the most prolific types of monsters in large, old human cites and settlements where it is easiest for them to hunt without being noticed.
Relationships: Locke (Son), Viper (Business Contact)
Alignment: Neutral Evil
In-Character Quote: "I love playing games. I especially love ones humans are all too ready to bet their lives on without a second thought. Make the prize tantalizing enough and they'll forget everything they stand to lose until it is far too late. And fear tastes delicious.”
Speaking Style: Maestro is mute by choice around humans, often because it makes other people uncomfortable and he takes great pleasure in that. When he does speak his tone is cordial and soft, somewhere between a low murmur and a whisper, sometimes described as ‘how you hear voices in nightmares’. He speaks more freely around other monsters when the situation calls for it— this too is uncommon, since Shades are often considered untrustworthy and selfish even among fellow monster kind.
Prominent Traits:
Controlling
Enigmatic
Voluntarily Mute
Sadistic
Dramatic
Character Summary:
For as long as he can recall across his many years of existence, Maestro has always been alone. No companions, no friends— perhaps the occasional bedmate if someone struck his fancy and kept his attention for long enough— but nobody that would linger beyond a delightful hunt in his ever-shifting, wandering territory.
Humans like to say that cold, unshakeable cruelty is common to monsters after all, so who is Maestro to go against that lovely expectation? To be anything but a creature prowling in the shadows and nightmares of his would-be quarry?
