I saw the painting 'Miss Edith Fitton' by Sir Frank Dicksee in this post, and the lady in the picture reminded me of my OC Melissa, so I decided to redraw it with her.

If you were wondering how my version of the painting came to exist in-universe: Renée painted it!

Here's Renée and Melissa in swimwear, inspired by two actual historical swimsuits from the early 20th century, which I'll put under the read more.

I simplified the second one a bit because there was no way I could do all those pinstripes with my markers.

I saw this comic in a post about the 1890s bicycle suit and the two women in it reminded me of Renée and Melissa, both in appearance and attitude. Renée likes the more tomboyish side of fashion, and while Melissa wouldn't personally go as far as trousers, she could be won over by the practicality element of dress reform.

Renée would get a bicycle eventually. And probably fall off it a few times.
