This is kind of a continuation of the scribes college party comic. Everyone has now devolved into playing a drinking game. Princess Henrietta, who by now has already had plenty of wine, hasn't quite grasped the rules. Constance isn't really bothered that she's talked the princess to sleep before - sometimes she bores her on purpose - but knowing that her friends have had the same experience offends somewhat. So when Berenice innocently makes things worse, Constance immediately pulls out the dirt on her (even though Nellie started it).

I saw the painting 'Miss Edith Fitton' by Sir Frank Dicksee in this post, and the lady in the picture reminded me of my OC Melissa, so I decided to redraw it with her.

As promised (even if it took a while), some examples of royal court fashion in the scribeverse.

I was going to draw Henrietta for both, but thought I'd take the opportunity to design a new character from a different Great House. Her name is Queen Roberta.

There's a lot more variety among the royal courtiers than the scribes (who all wear mostly the same outfits), and colour is specifically used to signal allegiance and identity. For the current King and Queen, the purple gown or coat has to go over the clothes in their House colours, to symbolise how their duty to the nation has to come before their duty to their own province. At least, that's how it's supposed to go...

I saw this comic in a post about the 1890s bicycle suit and the two women in it reminded me of Renée and Melissa, both in appearance and attitude. Renée likes the more tomboyish side of fashion, and while Melissa wouldn't personally go as far as trousers, she could be won over by the practicality element of dress reform.

Renée would get a bicycle eventually. And probably fall off it a few times.

every time someone says calling your original characters "OCs" is unprofessional and disrespectful towards yourself as an artist and that you should be calling them "my characters" instead I just gotta wonder if they know the purpose of an abbreviation. it's just fucking shorter and quicker to type!!! oh my god

I've tried to develop an even simpler style so I can crank out drawings even faster. I tested it on these ideas because they're memepilled crack and use words/phrases that wouldn't fit with the setting. They're helping me with characterisation though.

What Constance isn't divulging is that one of her favourite things to do with words is exploit their 'nuance of meaning' for the purpose of trickery.

Henrietta's next act as Princess will be the Mandate of Grass Touching.

(I am going to do Constance's reaction to the wine mom tapestry, but she has a lot to say, and I need to straighten out all the dialogue and how I'm breaking up the panels)

Drew this with my OC Henrietta since she's a princess/queen who wears low cut dresses and is somewhat paranoid.

The other two are her scribes, Berenice and Constance.

I love when pseudo-historical settings have Ye Olde version of modern stuff, so here's Princess Henrietta with the wine mom decor she commissioned.

Maybe I should have Berenice publish a manuscript entitled: Thy Grammar Sucketh.
