Unlike the Toon Patrols' van, Shiny's red convertible is animated. She named her Carol, and she's sentient.
Though unlike Benny The Cab who has eyes and a mouth and can speak, Carol on the outside looks like a normal toon car. Headlights, bumper, the works. But you'll notice that her headlights will wink at you or narrow at some punk that followed Shiny out to the parking lot. Shiny pats the hood and talks to her, and Carol's engine will purr in reply. And Carol has no problem running over toons that she and Shiny agree could use a little flattening.
Poppy, if toons are born and not made (or this is her human self, Sophie), because of her talent with the piano and interest in ballet, was dragged into the spotlight by her mother, even so young. In high school, she couldn't make many friends with Buttercup preventing her from joining clubs or any other after school activity because of a photo shoot or a recital or an audition she had to go to.
At 18, Poppy became a part of Stein Studios. And once they made her famous in the acting community, she got hired by various comoanies for model work. Acme Springwear, Fairest of them All, etc. Poppy is very greatful that her modeling gigs didn't last long and those magazines are a thing if the past... But on occasion, she is recognized for her minor jobs, "Oh hey! Aren't you the lady who promoted Acme's Parasols in the 30's?" And she tries her hardest to be polite, but inside she feels like a snail hiding away in her shell.
Although albinism doesn't always cause blindness or vision problems, I'm deciding that Snowdrop does indeed have vision problems. Thats another reason why her brother is so protective of her and so worried about her making the migration alone.
In the human AU, Shiny, or Maeve, had an Irish mother. She died when she was 12, but that was still plenty of time for her to teach her daughter the Irish language :)
Shiny/Maeve still remembers the language. And she'll say it when either very, very happy (Shiny/Maeve, holding her daughter for the first time and smiling down at her, "Lá breithe shona duit, a stór lúide."), or when she is furious. I'm talking a kind of fury that woukd make the devil himself shiver, "Déanfaidh mé tú a chreidiúint i Neamh agus Ifreann. Agus is mise do bhreitheamh..."
... or she and Greasy/Miguel are having a lovers quarrel XD in which case, prepare to hear Spanish and Irish.
Since Shiny has worked as a waitress for years, in her teens, and in the burlesque club before she got to officially join the dancers, she knows diner lingo like the back of her hand. The first time she treated the boys out to dinner, Psycho and Stupid (and probably Greasy) looked at her like she just performed witchcraft.
As a toon showgirl, I'm debating whether or not Shiny carries glitter with her everywhere, and she uses her toon logic to utilize it whenever the situation calls for it. Whether its just her adding a bit of 'glamour' to her sentence, pranking her friends by adding just a pinch of glitter to their clothes (Smartass is still finding glitter in his suit and he hates it), dabbing it on herself. Or more often when she's being sassy.
So essentially, Shiny would be the spongebob meme.
Cosmos' crush is a male silverwing named Whisp. They were actually friends since they were pups, along with a few other bats that unfortunately drifted away when Cosmos took in Snowdrop and closed off after he lost his parents.
But Whisp stuck around. He helped pupsit for Cosmos while he hunted, and managed to convince his mother to help feed Snowdrop when she still needed milk. It was strange to both males, as their species do not typically care for the pups. It didn't come naturally for either of them. But they learned together, and it wasn't long before Cosmos fell in love.
Snowdrop knew before her first migration that Cosmos wanted to start a life with Whisp, but he was too afraid of what might happen to her. Animals with albinism and poor eyesight don't tend to last long in the wild, and he couldn't imagine losing the last of his family. Snowdrop hopes that with her second migration, it will finally show Cosmos that she's alright on her own, and he shouldn't hold his own life back anymore.
Snowdrop and Whisp get along well. She was the first to assure him that her brother did like him.
Pup Snowdrop: Don't worry. He likes your butt and fancy mane. I overheard him talking to himself about you.
Whisp: *fur ruffling in a flustered manner* He thinks its fancy?
One of my inspirations for Poppy is Misery from Ruby Gloom. And one of Misery's traits is that she sleepwalks, and even sings while sleep walking (like ghostly opera level of singing. Girls got an amazing set of pipes. The singing starts around 6:00).
I'm debating whether or not Poppy should sleepwalk too 🤔 it would fit her horror genre! Just imagine any of her friends or her s/o waking up in the middle of the night to see her just standing at the top of the stairs in her night dress and fast asleep. But I don't know if that would be overkill or not. Especially if she would sing while sleep walking. But what do ya'll think?
