essentially what they do is hunt for supernatural phenomena, especially ghosts. As Solitaire has the ability to see ghosts. there are various ghosts in the world who are haunting people in a not too dissimilar way to what Chekorhothk was doing, and the gang looks for ways to make them dissipate and stop them from disturbing the living. Solitaire has a particular vendetta against ghosts because a trio of them ruined his performances as a magician, stopping him from ever making it big. Cameron was in attendance at one of these shows and learning of Solitaire's claims of ghosts being real sparked an interest in ghost-hunting. She's made special goggles which allow her to see ghosts. and also I think there is a device that traps the ghost in an object (Solitaire likes to put them in playing cards)
Walter is not a ghost but he is a supernatural phenomenon so they do make him their business. somehow they do manage to make him stop eating people and convince him to join the team (as he is also able to see ghosts, on account of being another sort of... unliving entity). idk how. maybe by feeding him burgers.......
also fun fact about Walter. his body stopped ageing at the moment when his parents realised he wasn't their son. as his body no longer had to keep the facade of being a regular furry. If his parents had never found out he would died long ago. so now he's just kind of stuck
