🍁 - has taber ever been in love? how many times? what are her feelings on romantic and platonic (deep friendship sort) love?

yeah sure, why not? why shouldn't i respond to an ask that was sent literally a year and a half ago? // send a leaf and a question

taber's had crushes on more fictional people than real, and it would be difficult to say she's been in love before. she's always loved the idea of love, that unbreakable force that drives book characters to act like fools or monsters or gods, changing the world in the name of that One Person. it's beautiful, it's terrifying, it's comforting, it's painful. she's always sort of assumed that kind of love was going to stay out of reach for her, if it did exist

now, after she's been free from the broker -- and her family -- for two years, and she's found love for herself, she can safely say that the love she knows isn't like love in the books

aracelli and belasco are her first friends after felix, and she knows she would do quite a lot to keep them safe, but she's also learned that love also means helping her friends when they're in crisis and staying with them even when they aren't. zuzanna is the first person she's truly fallen in love with, and through her, she's been learning that love also means keeping herself safe so she can come home to her girlfriend. she, felix, and deniel have been rebuilding their own kind of family, and have been learning that love is being patient with each other and trusting each other, even when worrying about each other

as it turns out, love Is beautiful, terrifying, comforting, painful, and everything else. but it's also something she wants to keep for the rest of her life, because it helped her come alive

I was wrong on this ask bc I got my timeline wrong: a year ago, Taber was actually trying to decide what the hell to do with Judoc given her recently-revealed warlock pact, immediately after destroying one of the Broker’s foundries. And it’s hitting me like a bus that a little more than a year after breaking out of one foundry, Taber would go on to destroy another

But now Taber’s had most of a year of space away from Judoc, letting her forge her own path the same way Taber herself had forged her own

6. how have they changed in the last year? how about the last five years?

oof. how has taber Not changed, frankly. one year ago she had just gotten herself free from the broker's foundry, and was struggling to come to grips with how to become a person after all of that. five years ago, she was a shadow in the lamburn estate, following behind judoc as she went about her daily activities or staying hidden in the library, only coming alive in the estate's gymnasium. now she's a paladin, she has a girlfriend, she has the family that matters to her close at hand, she has people she's happy to call her friends... she feels like a person, at long last

mhel's adventures with his party also started about a year ago, and five years ago, he'd been comfortable and happy back home but knew something was missing while he still didn't know where his father was. now, he's become so much more knowledgeable about the world on the surface, he's met so many interesting people, and he's even found where his father had been! sure, he's lost a hand and there are some things he's seen that he's still having to come to terms with, but all in all, he'd say he likes where he is now

13. what are some motifs you associate with them? did you intentionally bring in those motifs, or did it happen over time?

taber i associate with hands, fire, the idea of sleepwalking/waking up, and the colours blue, white, red, and silver. i'd intended for something of a wonder woman vibe with her when i first created her, so the colours check out. hands were actually a thing i associated her with from the start, but that motif became stronger after she became ilmatari. the sleepwalking motif is a little harder to explain, but it came through more clearly over time, as i realized she was really only starting to become a person over the course of the campaign

mhel is associate with ice, glowy mushrooms, a specific shade of purple, witch hats, and bears. almost all of these came pre-packaged with my first idea of his character, but somewhere along the line i also discovered how much he likes bears lmao

68. where’s their home?

physically, taber lives in fallhaven, under the bottom of the barrel inn. the temple of ilmater in fallhammer also feels like a home to her. really, though, her home is wherever her family is, whether it's with felix and deniel or with belasco and aracelli

mhel's home is wryn shiralath, the underdark village. always is, always will be, but even more so now that valas can join mhel, his husband, and his metamour in a house

Can't play TNP atm bc I'm too busy with irl stuff but I still wanna wax about my hunters (bc I have more than one now lmao) 🥰

First off, names: Capella Rae, Ruthie Lamburn, and Teo Nicolás

In a way I have three hunters to hit all three different variations of a couple different things (transmutation weapons magic in combat; aggressive genuine stoic personalities; they/she/he pronouns lmao; Merry+Lea Noel Clem romances) but they're developing beyond just that and I'm a big fan of that

All three of them are protective and duty-bound in their own ways. Ruthie is the most obvious, that same sort of Protect The Innocent paragon that Taber is but with more worldly experience. Teo is tired and kind of flitting from job to job, but he does get some fulfillment out of his lot and out of keeping his people safe, bc otherwise what is this all for, y'know? Those to also send money back to their families still

Capella cares about doing their job first and foremost, though Jorah and Lea's voices nag in their head to remind them of who they're supposed to be doing this job for (characters who outsource their moral compass my beloved). They do care deeply for Their People though, and while they don't send money back home anymore, that honestly wasn't an easy decision for them to make. They needed the money, they still need the money, they're no good to anyone if they're dead

Somewhat related to duty, I'm planning on maybe trying the Highfell route with Teo, since he's the most likely of the three to try to push through to Highfell. I'm sure Clem won't mind that lmao

One funny thing is that I barely know anything about their younger siblings except for Ruthie's (bc she gets Deniel like in her canon) but they all managed to have a younger sibling in some flavour of Brother, I think

I'm also debating playing with different genders for Lea in each playthrough? m!Lea is the first guy I ever felt Cap could have any sort of romantic connection with, but I wonder if I'm gonna get bowled over by f!Lea. I am also a simple femme who can't get enough of butches lmao
