Gelad, multiples of 8! (for the Get To Know Your Character list)

08. What is, perhaps, their biggest flaw? Are they aware of this or oblivious to it?

She’s definitely overconfident, if not outright arrogant. And it has gotten her into plenty of trouble (like eating way too many ghosts without a back-up plan). She never learns from it either because she always manages to survive. She is kind of aware of her arrogance, but believes that her skills can help her overcome whatever challenge. 

16. Is your character the athletic type or more of a couch potato? What are some sports/games that they like?

She’s definitely more of a couch potato. Thanks to slavery she was malnourished as a kid and there’s very little she can do to fix that now. And also being natural sorcerer means that she can wield the Force to take on her foes.

But as to the sports she likes. She enjoys swimming, the water feels calming and it doesn’t hurt her even in long term. Also she kind of enjoys practicing lightsaber combat, but only in short bursts. Though it’s more an exercise in controlling the Force than physical one.

24. In their own words, how would your character describe what their lover is like?

“Wait, which one? I mean, Andronikos is fun. Got to love a man who knows who he is and isn’t afraid to live life to the fullest. I definitely need someone where I know where I stand and I’m definitely fine with our friends-with-benefits arrangement as it stands.“

32. If your character’s lover offered to take them out on a dream date, what would they want to do?

Gesad would like to spend the date eating good food and just staying home watching a movie. She already spends most of her evenings either working or attending social events due to her status. So just relaxing for one night with someone she loves sounds like fun.

40. Does your OC have any guilty pleasures they enjoy? Hobbies, past times, music, etc that they wouldn’t want known by others?

No, Gesad is done with feeling guilt about things she enjoys. As a slave she wasn’t allowed to do anything for herself and in any case, she feels that guilt in overrated and refuses to participate in the guilt culture. 

48. Is there anything in particular that would ignite your character’s jealousy? Or does your character not get envious?

Gesad rarely gets envious anymore. She used to be jealous of people who were free, but being on the Dark Council gives her plenty of freedom. And as of lovers, not really as she’s fine with sharing. Though this is because she’s rarely been in love, so lovers are more about momentary fun rather than anything serious.

30. I Love You’s – Gesad/Leela, 9 ATC

A melancholic smile crosses Gesad’s face before the now-usual mischievous smile returns as she looks at Leela. The gentle breeze travels through the grassy meadow, making Leela’s hair flutter in the wind. Gesad can’t help but lean in, pushing the few strands behind Leela’s ear, her fingers gently trailing along the jaw before she softly kisses Leela.

“You’ve been quiet lately,” Leela remarks, her eyes staying on Gesad as Gesad pulls away from her.

Gesad’s eyes lower down as she starts tugging the blades of grass, not sure what to say. She wasn’t good with this kind of things, with feelings. Even thinking about talking about them made her nervous. It seemed to erode the self-confidence she’d been slowly building over the past year. “I- I’ve just been thinking. About the fact how nice you are. And how you like me for me, despite…” Despite the fact that, that she was an alien and an ex-slave. Someone who Sith didn’t actually need to pay any heed to.

Looking at Gesad quietly, Leela is about to speak before Gesad’s finger gently presses against her lips. “Please, let me finish. Because I need to say this and otherwise I might never say this.” Gesad takes a deep breath, trying to form the words in her head. “The last year or so has been the best one in my life. And you are a big reason for that. I-” She bites her lip as nervousness seems to vibrate through her very being. These were words she could never take back. “I think I love you.”

Leela’s silence is nerve wreaking to Gesad. Even though it lasts only under a second, Gesad’s head conjures all the worst-case scenarios, from mocking laughter to outright rejection. Instead Leela smiles brightly, her fingers intervening with Gesad’s. “I love you too.”

Gesad lets Leela slowly pull her towards her, their lips first touching softly. In no time Gesad deepens the kiss, enjoying the warmth of the hands wrapping around her. But that warmth is nothing compared to the warmth Leela’s words have caused. The happiness making her giddy. And in that moment Gesad can’t remember when, if ever, she’d been as happy as she is now.

As Leela pulls away from her, Gesad’s teeth teasingly nibble at her bottom lip. They both are smiling, Gesad almost grinning. The meadow feels brighter and sunnier, and Gesad feels lighter, the worry moved from her shoulders. She laughs before diving in for another kiss, knocking the two of them to the grassy ground.

6. Shopping (For Needs) – Gesad/Leela, 8 ATC

There were plenty of things Gesad was sure she’d never get used to. Being free to do her own groceries was one of them. As was the choice of what to eat, and when. She just wished people would stare at her less, the looks outright hostile. Aliens weren’t supposed to be shopping in this part of town, and free aliens even less so.

She grunts as one of the Imperials bumps into her far harder than possible if it was just an accident. Sending them a short glare she turns back to trying to select some of the fruits. Sure, they might not be part of her normal diet, but she liked them.

“You seem deep in thought.” Leela’s gentle voice comes from behind her.

Gesad hums her greetings, leaning into Leela as her arm wraps around her. She was grateful that Leela always waited for her to acknowledge her. She really couldn’t deal with people touching her out of the blue. “Just wondering what I want to eat.”

Leela laughs quietly before kissing her cheek, “Something I struggle with daily. I did have a plan but am open for suggestion.”

“I can figure something for dessert,” Gesad grins widely, turning slightly towards Leela and kissing her slowly.

“Mm, you are making me want to skip straight to dessert.” Leela smiles warmly against Gesad’s lips.

“So chocolate mousse sounds good then?” There’s a mischievous glint in Gesad’s eyes as she winks, fully knowing that’s not what Leela had meant.

“Sure,” Leela chuckles. “Let’s go find the ingredients then.”

Gesad nods, putting several fruits to the basket before taking Leela’s hand in hers. She smiles wickedly at the Imperial who’d pushed her earlier, watching their scandalised look when they notice Leela’s lightsaber. Dating Sith certainly had its perks.

Day 1

30 Day Character Challenge: Part 1: Childhood 

1. What is your character’s earliest childhood memory?

Gesad remembers fire and smoke. People screaming and running as blaster bolts fly through the air. She remembers that fear that drives one to run even when you can’t any longer. Remembers large scaly hands grapping her, she remembers fighting until everything goes dark.

Asra remembers a warm hand on her shoulder as the Jedi apologises that he can’t take her with him, that she’s too old. She remembers that tiny part of her that had already started to hope that she’d live on the surface instead in the lower levels of Coruscant being crushed in an instance.

Ingrasi remembers sitting at attention, pride swelling in her chest. She remembers a small pain as her ear is pierced and an earring is slipped in. She doesn’t remember the words her parents say but she remembers their smiles. Because with Sith an earring is never just an earring.

Aleena remembers sun on her skin and grass under her feet. She remembers rain constantly beating against her roof. She remembers kind green eyes looking at her as her mother reads her a bedtime story, or are the eyes red? It all mixes together and in the end she doesn’t remember, doesn’t know, if they are real memories.

Day 11

30 Day Character Challenge: Part 2: Personality

5. Who do they hate the most? Why?

Gesad still hates Tolte, even though the Hutt is dead. She hates him for buying her and for keeping her enslaved for all those years. For forcing her to do things she never wanted. And even though he’s gone, she still hates him for having had such an influence on her life.

Asra hates ideas more than people, but some people just ask to be hated. Most Sith are wise enough to keep their mouth shut about her past, but Darth Ethor thought different. She has made several comments in public questioning Asra’s loyalties, which has pissed Asra off. Unfortunately, Ethor is one of Darth Aruk’s apprentices, making silencing Ethor slightly more difficult than it otherwise would be.

Ingrasi generally hates all Jedi in equal amount but one managed to get under her skin more than most. Jedi Master Lareem Jioks did all he could to stop the Empire from gaining control of Cartao. It took Ingrasi months more to accomplish her task as Jioks inspired the population to rebel. Despite her efforts, Ingrasi was unable to catch the Jedi sabotaging the occupation as Jioks left the planet just as Ingrasi was about to catch him.

Aleena isn’t one to hate people. There have been people who she’s been angry with, but she’s never truly hated anyone. It’s only after when Aleusis reveals how he sees her now that she’s not a Jedi anymore that the small resent she has for him starts to grow. Eventually she realises that she hates him. Because of his lies, of the fact that he doesn’t show her any understanding, assumes that she gave in at the first moment, because he never truly cared about her. But it’s bitter hatred, not one that burns bright but one that hurts her, gnaws at her.

Day 16

30 Day Character Challenge: Part 3: Now

4. Which object would you have to pry from their cold, dead hands? Why?

Gesad won’t give up her lightsaber no matter what. To her it’s the symbol of her freedom, of everything she has accomplished, everything people thought she wouldn’t be capable of. And as the crystal is something she’s made herself, the lightsaber literally has a part of her in it.

Asra has a small box filled with memories, but if she had to choose one thing from the box she doesn’t want to let go, it’d be a photo album. For her that album contains memories of the people who are now long gone, of people she can’t see again. And considering that many of those holos only exist in that album, they are the only things that remind her of those people.

Ingrasi’s family ring is something that you’d literally have to pry from her cold, dead hand. It’s an old family heirloom that holds generations of family history and Ingrasi has been proud to add to that. It also marks her as the heir to the Wôyan family, an honour she’s more than happy to have.

Aleena won’t let go of her woollen socks no matter what. They hold a special meaning for her as they were a gift from her best friend and the first thing that was truly her own. They make her feel safe and remind her of Mariel, which always brings her comfort. And in her worst times they remind her of better times, when things were simpler, and she felt that she knew who she was.

Day 26

30 Day Character Challenge: Part 5: What If

2. If your character was in a tragedy, what would be their downfall/tragic flaw?

Gesad’s flaw would be her pride. One day she’ll end up mixed in something she can’t handle and that will be it. And she’ll walk right into it while being assured that she’ll come out on top. All the while she’s overlooked something crucial.

Asra’s downfall would be her desire to reach for something she could never have. She’d set her goal far too high and then crash and burn in pursuit of it. Most likely being tormented by the impossibility of reaching it.

Ingrasi’s flaw would be her anger. It would be an all-consuming one, one that would burn her. It would be in pursuit of vengeance or her sense of justice. And once set, it wouldn’t stop until everything had burned.

Aleena’s downfall is the fact that she cares about people. So much so, that she is willing to sacrifice herself, piece by piece. And perhaps one day, there will be nothing left, she’ll breath and be as alive as she’s ever been, but she won’t be herself anymore.

Day 22

30 Day Character Challenge: Part 4: The Future

4. What is one thing they eventually want to change?

Not sure if this is about themselves or the world in general, so let’s go with the whole inward approach.

Gesad would like to erase the influence her years in slavery have had on her. Because it still shadows her no matter what. She can’t wear anything around her throat without disgust tearing through her, she’ll never be able to enjoy dancing, certain food’s will always make her want to vomit.

Asra would like to be able to deal with disappointment better. Part of her feels that she should be used to it and know how to deal with it, but as she doesn’t, she tends to go to great lengths to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Ingrasi isn’t one to want to change things about herself. She’s actually really happy with who she is.

Aleena wants to be more confident in herself and her views, in expressing them. She feels so unsure of herself and her path that having some certainty in it would be nice. So, better self-esteem.
