Ex-minion to a powerful wizard. A storm god accidentally struck them with lightning and that's how they found out that they had powers. Oops!

Goblin Sorcerer [Storm Sorcery]
Also known as "Mim" or "Mimzi",
I love the lore I wrote for Mimzi in the old post, so if that interests you I highly recommend you check it out. It's basically just expanding on the incident in which Mim got their powers.
From a design standpoint, I wanted Mimzi to have some aspects of my own look. Something about their look is aspirational to me - maybe it's the hair, or the choice of outfit, or some dysphoria I have about my own height (I'm very tall irl). Drawing Mimzi really hits a spot for me that feels euphoric for me as a plus-size nonbinary person, and so I wanted to enable that more by thickening them up a bit in the redesign (and not just because that falls into my general preferences for designing these characters lmao).
All told, the design hasn't changed that much but I LOVE Mim and their new look, especially the more subdued golden color of their eyes, which were easier to incorporate into their outfit as well than the more neon-adjacent yellow of the old design. And yes, I did add a little self-inbulgent dulge in this one
Also known as "Mim" or "Mimzi", Mimosa Squall is a fresh new face in the world of adventuring. Early in life, Mim was the servant to a powerful wizard. When they began to show signs of a natural inclination towards magic, the wizard prevented them from studying and he began sending them out as a courier instead of keeping them inside his tower full of secrets. Mim was very shy, but had no recourse but to go out into the world on these assignments and slowly began to meet people who didn't treat them as dismissively.
One day, the wizard sent Mim to deliver a correspondence to an enclave of monks. When Mim arrived at their temple, however, a full-scale battle with the avatar of a storm deity was underway. Lightning arced out of the abstract creature, demolishing everything in sight.
Evidently, this wasn't the best time to deliver the letter, but poor Mim, so anxious as to not anger their employer, decided to try and drop off the package in a nearby building. This was a bad idea. After dropping off the letter, Mim poked their head out of the doorway into the smoldering courtyard, only to realize that the beast had noticed them and was now idly waiting outside to strike. The incoherently yelling body of a monk flew past Mim and rolled across the ground as Mim looked into the Eye of the Storm.
Their body went numb. Time seemed to stop. The only thing they could feel was a sudden vibration in their hand, and realized that they'd involuntarily held it out to cover their face, and a bolt of lightning had struck them directly in the palm. The blue skin of their hand was warped into a dull green, but Mim felt no pain whatsoever. In fact, they felt... energized.
Evidently, the monster had not expected this, and neither had the dozen or so monks that looked on in shock. "Oh, well that's fortunate," one of them said, getting up gingerly. The beast reclined into a curious but passive posture. Its voice boomed throughout the ruins of the temple. "State your business, goblin."
Mim was gobsmacked and still tingling from being literally struck by lightning. "Uh... I have a message, I'm a courier."
One of the monks grimaced and ran over to Mim with a blanket. "OH, you're Childe's courier, right? SO sorry, we were training here. How time flies! heh heh...." One of the other monks began casting a spell to rebuild one of the nearby buildings with ease.
Another monk approached with a chair. "You might want to sit down, we're SO sorry oh gods, hey, you know you got struck by lightning, right? H-how, uh, how are you feeling?"
Mim looked down at their hand, noticing a network of green scars that had appeared across their arms and legs. "I feel fine. Am I supposed to be dead? I feel like-"
The first monk, visibly sweating, said "No, so hey, Childe didn't tell us you were a sorcerer! And a storm sorcerer at that! What a coincedence, right?"
Mim stared at the monk blankly. "I am?"
For the first time, Mim realized that everyone but them was panicking. Accidentally killing a wizard's courier would've been a VERY BIG mistake...
"Yeah, yup, you are!" the second monk said. "Can you do us a solid and forget that all happened? We can fix those nasty scars for you -"
"I don't mind them," Mim replied, feeling a cold flush come over them as the sudden burst of energy from the shock began to dissipate. "So storm sorcerers are just predisposed towards lightning?"
The first monk, an orc, knelt down next to Mim, who took a seat on the provided chair. "Some are. Some find themselves aligned with the cold, or fire, or dust or sand, or the pure wind itself. You didn't know you had this gift? Surely your master would have noticed." The beast above began to wreathe itself in clouds and lean in with interest.
Mim hesitated.
"Would you like to learn how to harness this power?" The beast asked softly, lowering a large hand to offer to Mim.
"Honestly, that'd be kinda sick," Mim responded, staring into the middle distance.
"Hey, how do you guys feel about my current boss, anyway?"
"Oh, well, Childe is a lovely benefactor to the monastery," The first monk piped up. "He provides artifacts from time to time, at a reasonable price, of course."
"Do you like him?" Mim asked, in a tone that almost sounded rhetorical.
The beast raised an eyebrow. "Why do you ask?"
Mim paused for a moment, looking down at a mote of crackling energy between their fingertips. "Because I don't think I do."
I'm making a list of D&D OCs, with three characters for each playable class in 5th edition, including Artificer and Blood Hunter.
