Christmas Drabble Sneak peek
Madalyn Jaymes Winchester: age 4-5
This story takes place during Sammy's first Semester at Stanford so I'm guessing 2001 or 2002.

a/n: For me to write this is not letting my anxiety win. I've been having all kinds of ideas for younger Madalyn. And Maybe because I work with Prek and Kindergartners, she is perpetually 4 or 5 no matter the season in all these ideas. Maybe it's because I like writing the boys as parents, but earlier when I asked someone I thought it was a friend to draw a cover page for me using a picture of the little girl Madalyn is based off of as a model I was accused of being a pedofile so I refused to write. I'm trying not to let my anxiety control me. I hope you enjoy it.
It had been an usual couple of months for the Winchesters ever since Sam left for Stanford, especially for Madalyn who was the youngest Winchester at barely just 5. One of the constants in her life, one of the people who practically raised her was gone. Even though she knew he was at school, she still had a hard time adjusting to the fact that Sammy wasn't there everyday like before.
"Dean?" she asked in her little kid voice. " Do you think Sammy will come home for Christmas?"
Dean hated that question, and he had been asked it by Madalyn every single Holiday. "Will Sammy come home for Halloween?" When that passed it became " Will Sammy be home for Thanksgiving?", now Madalyn was asking him just about every day if Sam was coming home for Christmas.. Dean knew the best thing to do to stop the asking and make Madalyn happy would be to tell her yes, but he and Sam taught her one of the main Winchester rules besides " Stay Safe" was " Winchesters don't like to each other" and Dean was not going to do that to his baby girl. After much deliberation in his mind he finally thought of the best answer.
" I don't know ladybug" Dean gave her a soft smile. " I would like for him to though".
" Can we call and ask him?" Madalyn asked, her voice getting higher with excitement.
"I'm not sure that's such a good idea." Dean stated. Madalyn didn't know how bad things really were between Sam and John, or that John basically told him if he left not to come back
, but Dean was too late. Madalyn had already gotten his other other cell phone and was dialing a number.
"Dean?" Sam asked after looking at the caller idea getting ready to make sure he heard a little voice on the other line.
" Mads? " Sam asked confusedly, she never called him. " Is everything ok?"
Mad's shy side started to come out as she wouldn't say anything on the phone causing Dean to take it.
" Heya Sammy, sorry Mads just got really shy and handed me the phone."
"Is everything ok?" Sam asked his voice a mixture of concern and annoyance.
Dean stepped out of the room so Madalyn wouldn't hear the conversation. "Madalyn really misses you man" Dean replied not wanting to admit that he missed Sam too. "She keeps asking me everyday if you'll be home for Christmas and I don't know what to say except I don't know"
" How about the truth?" Sam snarked. He knew he wasn't welcome at home by his father who'd get his siblings to side with him
"You know I'm not good with tears. " Dean answered with a smirk on his face. "Plus as her favorite and oldest brother I can't break her heart...besides I'm pretty sure she doesn't understand why her life got turned completely upside down these past few months."
Sam let out a sigh, sure he was annoyed because he was getting ready for a date when they called but his sister was extremely important to him, and he hated that he may be upsetting her. " Ok, let me talk to her, get her calmed down and in bed then will talk about this ok jerk?"
" Fine bitch." Dean responded in their normal way, heading back to give Madalyn the phone. " By the way… how was Madalyn able to call you when she can't read or spell or names yet?'
Sam let out a small chuckle. " I had her.memorize our numbers during reading time in case she ever needed them."
" That's my boy!" Dean exclaimed letting Sam know he was proud before handing the phone back to Madalyn.
