If you're a fan of the late Michael Howard, editor of the highly regarded occult magazine The Cauldron, then you may have an interest in this post? Have you ever heard of an occult magazine called 'SPECTRUM'? Well Spectrum was Michael Howard's first occult magazine which only lasted from 1974 to 1976, and publishing only ten issues. Despite the magazine's short life the articles there-in are quite excellent, especially Michael's:)

If anyone wants to see the others just let me know. I'm missing just issue numbers 7 and 8.

Hi, Love your blog! is it a good idea to keep a journal if you are still learning about your craft?

Hey bb! Nice to see you! I hope your day's going well.

Keeping a journal at the beginning of your craft is a great idea. Speaking from my own experience, spirit works in (lol) mysterious ways, ways which may not become clear or relevant to you until much, much later. I wish I hadn't gone into a rage earlier on in my path and destroyed / threw away my beginner journals and resources.

Written records will detail not only your own growth and development, branches you've taken and ones you have not, but it will also contain messages you weren't quite ready to interpret or rituals given in dreams or divination that you weren't capable of working through at the time. Insight can be given from reflecting on the past, just as much as in reading of the future.

Aside from missed messages or opportunities, it can be beneficial to be able to look back and be able to recognize areas you have changed, ideas you have grown out of or into, and the like. Journalling is good for mundane purposes and otherwise, with much the same reasoning behind it.
