The Occult Section
I have a headcanon (more like a whole world-adding set of headcanons) that an Occult Section exists within the Black Order.
The occult must exist to some degree, as Cross Marian can perform magic, there’s the Skulls and the dead come back to life.
So I created a whole section that runs a little like a police department within the order, investigating non-innocence, magical phenomena and to keep magic secret from the general population.
It’s more like a sister organization, though it falls under the Black Order and they still answer to the Vatican, it doesn’t revolve around innocence, exorcists or akuma.
In fact it exists within a pocket dimension attached to Black Order HQ that a special key is needed in a specific door to get to.
It’s Chief is an old woman (with a massive crush on Bookman, but that’s just my wish), who isn’t scared to dabble in the darker side of magic.
Agents are the investigators.
Keepers are support, anything from inventions to spells to anything that makes keeping magic safe and hidden.
Both humans and magical folk work there.
The rest of the Order either doesn’t know the department exists, or are only vaguely aware of it, only the department Chiefs (and Bookmen) know of it properly.
Bookmen aren’t allowed to record inside of it, they’re recorders of Human history, and not all agents are human. But they are allowed to go in and out as they please, as they live somewhat separate from human society and magic folk appreciate that.
There’s also an enchanted library that looks after itself.
Agents of the Occult Section are not allowed to engage with Noah or Akuma, unless the former performs some kind of occultism or in self-defense.
Malcolm is terrified of the whole department. (I like to think there’s something he’s very, very scared of, and it’s because he can’t explain it). He never goes into the section itself, and rarely makes eye-contact with the Chief. She constantly likes to wind him up about it.
Komui gets on very well with the Chief, though he is a tiny bit scared of her, they meet occasionally to catch up on magic and exorcist matters. And so, Lenalee knows of the department, and used to spend time there as a child, mainly to escape Malcolm or general exorcist life.
Cross Marian often visited the section (due to not yet disclosed canon as to why he can wield magic).
Kanda has also visited the section, medical Keepers have examined his Talisman, and he goes for regular monthly check-ups (or did).
Most of the science section don’t know about it.
Noah don’t really know about it, kind of, they don’t see them at all as a threat so have never bothered with them, and it goes both ways really.
The characters we know of within dgm learn of the section due to the old pocket dimension going crazy when the ark first came to HQ, the occult section had to mildly integrate in with everyone till a new a dimension was made. Agents and exorcists would spar together in training.
Agents had confirmed Krory was not a vampire, prior to Cross’ visit.
If anyone has anything else interesting to add, do let me know! I’m going to write a post on what magical creatures actually exist, by looking at the current canonverse of DGM, as I don’t think things like werewolves or centaurs exist, but witches and vampires could. I might also write a post about my current OCs within the department.
If anyone wants to add OCs to the department, that would also be awesome!
