X Fathoms: the watch of all superlatives.

Never in the history of diving watches have features and specifications this complete and advanced been achieved in a mechanical timepiece as they are in Blancpain’s X Fathoms. The list of its features only hints at its capabilities and the ground breaking technical innovations which were required to make it a reality. The X Fathoms offers a high precision mechanical depth gauge capable, not only of measuring depths up to 90 meters, but able to achieve an accuracy of +/−30 centimeters at 15 meters. Twin depth gauges have been fitted, both with expanded scales, one for 0−90 meters (which also includes a maximum depth hand) and the second 0−15 meters. To aid in timing decompression stops, there is a 5-minute countdown timer. The watch itself is powered by Blancpain’s caliber 9918B which features a silicon balance spring to provide protection from magnetism, and offers five days of power reserve.

The Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback goes green

Colours, surfaces and textures do justice to the heart of this timepiece, the Manufacture F385 calibre, visible through a sapphire crystal caseback. The self-winding chronograph movement beats at a frequency of 5 Hz, enabling each second to be divided into 1/10th intervals. This high frequency guarantees increased accuracy, particularly when timing events. The F385 movement is equipped with a vertical clutch and a chronograph mechanism controlled by a column-wheel. It has a flyback function that enables the chronograph to be reset to zero and restarted instantaneously by simply pressing the push-piece located at 4 o'clock.

Equipped with a 45 mm titanium case that is water-resistant to 30 bar, the Fifty Fathoms Grande Date beats to the rhythm of the Manufacture 6918B movement. Insensitive to magnetic fields thanks to the use of a silicon balance-spring, this calibre delivers a comfortable five-day power reserve provided by three series-coupled barrels. The meticulous finishes are visible through a sapphire crystal case-back. The production of the remarkably light new titanium bracelet involves a series of demanding assembly and finishing processes. The hand satin-brushed links are joined together by means of transverse pins, endowing them with a fluidity and flexibility that ensure a perfect fit on the wrist. Based on a patented system, the (usually lateral) screws are placed on the back of the links so as to preserve the smooth look and feel of the bracelet edges.
