I made a video remix tribute multimedia file message for my YouTube channel.
Back in those days when it took 5 minutes for your datasette to load the loading music and only then begin loading the loading picture, Ocean Loader 1 was a thing.
This is Matt Gray’s cover version of a Commodore64 track from 1985, originally composed by Martin Galway. Ironically both Gray and Galway are legendary SID composers, they’ve respectively earned the legendary status for distinctly different sounds and personal compositions.
With that in mind, it’s seriously Dark Mirror-level of freaky how perfectly Gray just nails this track, he bends it over and makes it his own. Like a boss.
Can you method act music composition? If so, I’m 67% convinced that Matt Gray wore Martin Galways skin for however many weeks he worked on this track. It really sounds that much like a Galway rif.
