Headcanon about the oceanic magic world 3: the wands

Ok so this one is more focused on the wands, enjoy.

Like I said in the first one, children choose tips to put on their wand

It can be a shell or a stone

Some even use leaf or certain plants that are kept alive by the wand's magic.

The woods are also very different

For exemple there are woods from trees that only grows on certain island.

Mangrove wands are good in transfigiration.

Kaori is a really popular wood

It exist a lot of different type of kaories with a lot of different specificities.

Wands made out of red kaories is appreciated because of his rarity

One of the most precious type of wood is from the pohutukawa tree.

It's sacred for the Maori witch and wizard and only the most delicate wand maker are allowed to use this wood.

Same goes for banyan wands

This tree is really important in Kanak culture

It's wood is used very carefully by the wand maker

The witch or wizard who got a banyan wand is highly considered in the oceanian magic world.

It's powerfull with counter-spells and

Santal wands are adored by witches and wizard in french polynesian

The wonderfull sent of the wood is known to make charms more powerfull.

Tamanu wood is popular with healer witch and wizard

There is probably more to say but it's all I have for now.

🏝Headcanon about the cultural differences in the oceanian magic world

👶The youth are teach by familes.

🧓Each family have their speciality and the child are send from home to home to learn as much as possible.

💃🕺They use dance and body movements to cast spell.

🥢Wands are use to master the spell and then later, they use dance mouvement to cast them.

🏝There’s an exam each year that take the form of a dance representation.

🧙‍♂️🧙‍♀️Dances are performed in front of a concil of old witches and wizards who juges the capability of the youth.

👧Their first representation happen when they are 10 year’s old.

✌If they pass they are allowed to have their wand.

Each child can choose something to put at the tip of their wand.

🐚Some chooses shells,carb shells, rocks or crytals.

🥢They then go to the local wand maker and try to find the most suitable wand for them by testing the tips they choose with different wands.

🐕The pets are also differents.

🐗Forest board, with plants growing on their back are popular among the potion makers.

🐦Color changing parot are realy useful to deliver messages when the owls are sleeping.

🐊Saltwater crocodile are domesticated for their big size allowing a useful means of transport.

🌬On some islands witches and wizards surf on wind waves.

🏄‍♂️Some use surfboard to move, but due to the unpredictability of the wind it's more of a sport.

🌪Every year during the cyclone season a lot of surfer take adventage of the strong winds.

Headcanon about the cultural differences in the oceanian magic world: part 2

This one is going to be about families's annimals

Every wizard family have a representative annimal

For exemple Mona's family have the black tip shark.

Other's have turtles, parrots or even cats.

The family's annimal thing work by birth.

If two people with two different annimals marry each other and have kids the first born will take the mother's annimal.

The second will take the father's ...

And the next ones will get to choose.

Sometime the family's annimal match with their annimagus form.

The family's annimal protect them spiritually and sometime physically.

Children are put in contact with their protector at a very young age.

They learn how to treat them and how to act properly around them.

Voila, I think this one is not as good as the first one but I wanted to write it anyway.

Headcanon about the oceanian magic world 4: protection and hiding

This part is focused the way, witches and wizards hide themselves in the pacific.

In the pacific they use really old spells.

They were cast by witches centuries ago.

In the eyes of the rest of the magic world they look like curses but not to the oceanic people.

The most common ones are the magic mists...

If someone, goes through this mist uninvited they get transported in time...

Most of the time it's irreversible...

But no one can reproduce that kind of magic...

It was created by one witch and her disciples, they all ...

The youngs learn how to navigate in the mist

If one of them get lost a special group of trained wizards are sent to get them back.

The mist has another effect on people...

If they stay too long in the other time period they get progressively crazy...

They lose touch with reality...

And as they lose their mind, their bodies slowly convert into the mist, until they became a pink cloud...

Some people wonder why such a dangerous spell was cast as protection...

And, even tho it's scary, it allowed the witches to stay hidden during the colonization of their islands...

Inside the mist, their tradition as well as their way of life was preserved...

When wizards and witches from other countries came those islands, to escape witch trial and witch hunters, they were eventually accepted by the council.

So the safe places in the mist are really culturally diverse

There are other types of protection...

They are several underwater villages,

The spell used are a variation on a bigger scale of the bubble-head charm

The people living in those places rarely goes above water but they accept visitors and marchants from above.
