âOnly an imbecile would believe that stealing from a dragonâs hoard would not bring on the ire of the creature. A dragon is fiercely protective of what it deems their property and anyone stupid enough to attempt such a thing WILL be hunted down. A CHILD knows this! You made your way back to the city in an attempt to lure the dragon to destroy and maim whoever got in its way. This was a suicide run in an attempt to destroy the castle! This is anarchy and treason. If this was done on your own or if you were sent by a group with aim to over throw the crown, you will not succeed!â The Judge dropped the scroll down on his podium and glared back at the accused. âDo you have any proof to your claim that this was an accident?â
The prince let his eyes wander to the window. A layer of smoke was still rising from the out skirts of the town where the last fires had just been put out. The whole morning had been a disaster. It could have gotten a whole lot worse if he had not been out by the guard towers for an inspection. The prince swiped his thumb over a small orange gemstone that was set into a small simple gold ring placed upon his index finger. His attention was drawn back to the accused. In front of the lanky brunet was a pedestal with the gem that had been stolen from the dragon. Right now it was kept under a glass cover that was etched with runes and around it lay a circle of woven twigs and herbs. The gem was not the glittering blue stone that once had been stolen. Now it was swirling with a dark grey shine, shifting in lighter almost white patterns and the blue core sparked with icy veins. The stone rattled slightly every now and then.
