they’re in bed: naked and sated. it’s not really a common thing, debbie staying, but she had this time (this thing between them is not new, but it’s still casual. unspoken. tammy has no idea what they really are and at this point, she feels like she’s missed the opportunity to ask).

debbie’s lying with her forehead to tammy’s shoulder, arm lifted so her hand’s resting lightly on tammy’s torso. it’s kind of an awkward position—tammy’s uncomfortable, but she doesn’t want to move. is almost certain that debbie’s asleep and doesn’t want to wake her. she looks beautiful, like that: all relaxed and serene. her breath is shallow, quiet, and tammy listens to it as she stares at her.

she lifts her free hand, trails her finger along debbie’s cheek, her jaw. the touch so light it’s barely there at all. she doesn’t mean to say the words—they just come out. blurted but almost inaudible. it scares her how true they feel.

she doesn’t expect debbie to shift beneath her. doesn’t expect the sleepy, mumbled reciprocation.

my intro was like there are three f words that make people cringe (fuck, feminism, and fanfiction) and when i said fanfiction i got the laugh i was hoping for !!! it was a gr10 feeling but also like,,, you can tell that a lot of people outside fandom circles still perceive fanfiction as this weird thing because in its most popular form people know it as smut. but it's also a space that's primarily by women and for women (and other minorities) to create more content for  themselves because canon isn't enough bc even tho it has improved and diversified over the years it's still dominantly straight white and male akjdfsdf

so fic is our way of making ourselves part of that world HHH 

man i love fanfiction

i also wrote abt how the way women consume fiction and the way men consume fiction is a transformative vs. curative thing and i just !!! fic is probably the one thing i can talk abt forever

ALSO not to flood ur notifs or anything but ff is also the greatest form of character analysis ever. like fic writers can rlly change aspects of certain characters and change the context of how they exist yet still maintain !! the essence of what makes them that character. also interactions bw characters who have never interacted in canon ! bring out more aspects of characters
