I put all of the characters into a random name picker and let the computer decide which storyline they ended up in.
I had 3 rules
They can be from either game
They cannot take the same job as they originally had, in both games
I could modify the character's personality slightly and twist the story to fit the "for (blank)" without making it seem out of character. I also had to keep the original moral learned from the story (if any)
and it came out like this
I SWEAR I DID NOT RIG CYRUS TO BE THE DANCER. IT CAME OUT COMPLETELY RANDOMLY.
When the computer gave me Tressa as "for revenge" I refused to take it and generated again, but it gave me Tressa again, so I added the third rule lol
Rough storylines (NPCs not yet swapped) under cut
Agnea, the Cleric: Joined the church at a young age, and accompanies the original Flamebearer to make friends with them, but the Flamebearer dies unexpectedly on the road, so Agnea takes up the flame instead
Temenos, the Scholar: Embraces the detective. Hires himself to solve a mystery of his dead father figure and a missing book that he was protecting
Throné, the Merchant: Marina and Sebastian escaped the Blacksnakes through the power of love and Throné was raised normally. Now strikes out on her own, buying and selling to fund herself
Primrose, the Warrior: Wanted to be the Protector of Noblecourt, but failed to defend her father (despite being 13, mind you) and roams the continent in shame
Therion, the Dancer: Pretty much the same as his canon counterpart, except instead of being a thief, he's now a dancer
Hikari, the Apothecary: Despises bloodshed, becomes a field apothecary and heals pretty much everyone (think Red Cross worker)
Olberic, the Thief: Kicked out of the army at a young age, became hateful and distrusting due to having his dreams shattered. Ran away from home and became a thief
Ophilia, the Hunter: Instead of the church taking her in, it's Swarkii (forgot where the apostrophe goes) and she's raised by the hunters of the village
Partitio, the Hunter: he's HUNTING FOR A BARGAIN LOL. in all seriousness tho selling silver didn't work so he sold animals instead
H'aanit, the Apothecary: Got hit on the head when someone sent a boar after her, when she woke up she couldn't hold a bow anymore (our disabled rep for this au) so the apothecary took her as an apprentice instead
Alfyn, the Thief: Claude fucked his mom. thats it. He's still the same guy, just an assassin
Tressa, the Scholar: Biggest modifier of this au since I didn't want her to get thrown in jail. Originally a prodigious student meant to graduate early, but someone stole her final project and failed her, so now she's after them
Osvald, the Merchant: he became an author, sold books and made a living off of it. Rita and Elena live
Cyrus, the Dancer: Dreamt of being a dancer as a kid, mid-life crisis triggered his career change, struggles to overcome his overthinking that causes his poor dancing skills
Ochette, the Cleric: accidentally got shipped to east continent, first beastling cleric, wants to end prejudice against beastlings and teach other beastlings and stuff
Castti, the Warrior: Eir's Apothecaries is now a mercenary company, power struggles within and Castti has to regain control over everyone by firing/killing some people
It sparked from a misunderstanding so it doesn't make a lot of sense, but my mind cursed me with an immortal Ochette AU and it may be one of my saddest ideas so far
Just. Ochette outliving all her friends, including the other travelers and Mahina/Akalā, and doing little things to remember them even as centuries pass. With each generation the kids of her village seem to believe the story she tells them about her journey for legends and the dawn a little less, but they never question her little rituals, or why she always leaves Toto'Haha for a few days during a specific time of the year. It's okay by her. She remembers, and that's what matters.
(Bonus points if she doesn't become aware of it until after the first few decades. If she watches everyone around her get older and weaker while she stays the same. And she doesn't understand why.)
