The Cat Fancier's Show in Lexington, KY
This was actually really enjoyable. I can't say I have ever woken up and was completely okay with going to work until now. All of the people I met at the show were incredibly nice people. I learned all sorts of crazy things about different breeds and just about cats in general. So, I was placed right by the cat agility course. Which was both fantastic for my entertainment and probably not so great for selling, since it's kind of on the far side of things. I really enjoyed being there, watching the cat agility whenever there was a slow spot. There was also a dude there who was kind of like the master of cat agility, and he ran the cat agility. Very literally. There were quite a few people who just couldn't run around the course with their cats anymore. So when that was the case, he would run the cats through it for them. When new people who haven't done agility before come, he gives them tips on how to keep their cat engaged and moving. I have been testing some of them out on Chai since I have gotten home. Some of my favorite cat breeds from the show were the Ocicats, Siamese, Turkish Angora, and Somali cats. I never really appreciated most of these cats until I saw them in person. They are just so different from the pictures. I sold a lot of the stuff I had with me, and everyone says I did really well for my first time vending. So I am hoping to continue with this, and I have about ten thousand ideas for both selling and just for making life at home easier with Chai. There was a nine-year-old Ocicat named Foxy there, and he was still very active. I thought Chai no longer liked a lot of things just because she was getting older, but now I want to give it one last go. I have some ideas for trying to get her shaved again, which will be the biggest step to getting her back outside. There are two other things I am really interested in trying as well. I want to make her a sun hat like this
The reason for this is that whenever I used to take her out kayaking. She would get sunburn on her head and this made her quite angry with me. The second thing I am working on is making my pine litter less smelly. And, I wanted to try mixing in dry mint into her cat litter. Looking it up, it seems like some people already do this, and I just so happened to have a lot of mint growing. So it's super easy to test out. Some other herbs I head of people using is rosemary and catmint.
I didn't really take a lot of good pictures this go round. Which I am kind of sad about. I forgot my camera on the second day, so I just ended up using my phone, which isn't great.
If any of you are interested, the kitten right above this text is available for adoption. The Halfway Home cat rescue was there with adoptable kittens. They manage only to get two adopted, which is kind of sad... They would often walk around with the kittens, showing them to people. All of the volunteers were super nice and would often stop to chat for a few moments and let you pet the kittens. Also, I have a couple of videos I will be posting throughout the next couple of days of the cat show.
Its Octo-purr and I can't count, apparently. Last post was 9-15 and I didn't realize i completely skipped 7 and 8.
SO...here are days 7 and 8, the Devon Rex and the Serengeti...
And also days 16-18, the ocicat, the aphrodite giant, and the bengal.
