Took an unwarranted break to go get Starbucks. Just doing some Calculus here. I have a test next Thursday. I need an A on it if I want an A in the course. The second half of this semester is slowly beginning to go downhill, which is appropriate I guess, since winter is approaching. Let the avalanche begin. ☃️❄️

Oculus Repairo | Intro to Studyblr Community

Hello! I’m Alexis. I’m 21 and I’m working on a B.S. in Biology to then get my Doctorate of Optometry. 

I’d like to consider myself equal parts logical and creative. I love to draw and paint and spend time outdoors, biking or simply walking. Organization has always been my thing. I’m an INFJ. Ravenclaw house.

My blog is only about a month old so it’s still a lil baby. I’ve posted some things here and there but I figured it was time to properly introduce myself.

30 Day Minimalism Challenge | Day 03 & 04

Continuing right along with my minimalism challenge, I completed two more days and did not blog about them. On the third day, I identified my 3-6 main priorities. The fourth, I went bare faced.

Day 03: I listed my priorities as follows:

My own health and wellness, which you could break down into subcategories, such as diet and exercise being the physical, meditation as a spiritual aspect, and making time for my own creativity (i.e. painting, drawing, cooking, etc.) in order to maintain some mental and emotional health

Investing time and love into personal relationships with my family, friends, and boyfriend.

My education - specifically reviewing Precal over the next several weeks in order to prepare for Cal I in the Fall.

Reaching my next goal at work.

Day 04: Going bare faced was easy for me. I do this often when I’m not at work. I work at Sephora so obviously makeup is a job requirement. So today I had off and I walked aimlessly around my neighborhood for 45 minutes trying to catch Pokemon. I was hot and sweaty and lookin’ pretty rough and did not care one bit.

30 Day Minimalism Challenge | Day 02

So, yesterday I chose to identify my stress triggers. Turns out, I chose a bad day because I actually had a really fantastic day! Which couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ve been pretty hard on myself lately but yesterday I did really well at work and my coworkers were very uplifting of me. It was overall such a great day.

The only time I was anxious feeling is when I was running late for lunch with my family. I tend to be late and I hate it. I think it really sets the tone for the day and I feel rushed and anxious and irritable. So, I know this is a big area of improvement I need to work on. I noticed yesterday how that type of anxiety or stress can affect my relationships. Calling attention to the cause of our stress is so important to help either prevent it in the future or deal the stressors we cannot change. I love that this was a part of the challenge and I hope I carry that aspect with me into the future. I will certainly try.

30 Day Minimalism Challenge

Yesterday, I started this challenge by a fantastic blog called Into-Mind. Definitely check out the rest of her blog if you’re interested in living a more simplistic lifestyle, revamping your closet, defining a set of goals for yourself, or living an ethical lifestyle. She’s got it all.

Now, I believe I originally discovered this challenge about a year ago. Full disclosure: I got about halfway through the challenge back then, and then it just sort of fizzled out. This time around I’m going to blog about it so that I hold myself accountable, and so I can reflect on my progress.

Yesterday I started on Day 11, meaning I am doing this completely out of order (like I do everything else.) Also, because day 11 is “evaluate your commitments,” and because I have no commitments at the moment, I chose to do something completely different. So, I cheated to avoid cheating. Rather than check off a day of minimalism that I actually did not commit to, I decided to go through my filing cabinet and reorganize and reevaluate what all was in there. That stack of papers on top of it was getting pretty high!

At any rate, I feel like that small area of my space being decluttered helped my mental state. It definitely made me feel more relaxed and helped me feel productive. The closet situation still terrifies me, but that’s another day!

I will be back at it again today and I’m choosing to go with Day 26: Identify your triggers. I encourage @mediocrestudyblr, @asazora, @bellestudy, @genspen, @obsidianstudy, @hayley-studies, @studyign, @academla and anyone else to join this challenge, if you are so inclined.
