Oddball Brews #1: $75 Boar Burps
The second series I'm introducing on this blog, hoping to publish Wednesdays, is strange, unconventional brews that were outside of the price range for my budget content but still $100 or less! To kick off, we have GW Belcher with Yasharn at the helm!
Back before Zendikar Rising introduced MDFC lands, Goblin Charbelcher decks in Modern were janky builds running Lay of the Land effects just to function. They often fizzled and were very easy to hate out, with all the volatility of Storm and none of the consistency. Commander decks featuring Belcher usually are either monowhite Endless Horizons-based builds that use it as an incidental 2 card combo, or Arcum Dagsson builds with a Mana Severance. Either way, those are 10-dollar cards slotted into a full deck- they can hardly be called Belcher.
This is neither of those.
Boar Burps is a blend of MDFCs, Lay of the Lands, and card filtering designed to imitate the old G Belcher lists. Running only 13 actual lands and thirty-two ways to find them, running 13 collective ways to get Belcher from the graveyard, exile, and library, and a whole mess of card filtering, Boar Burps is the weirdest deck I've had the pleasure of building.
