Budget EDH #4: $30 Firja Reanimator
Hey everyone! Making up for the missed post yesterday, I've got our first WB deck in the series: Firja, Judge of Valor. Also the first one to follow a more complex strategy!
The deck has four main components: Reanimation, Firja Proc, Ramp, and Reanimate Targets. I'll break down the plan as follows:
Reanimation. Every reanimator deck needs ways to, well, reanimate- this brew runs five repeatable reanimator spells on top of eight one-use spells, including God-Pharaoh's Gift.
Firja Proc. Most reanimator decks in WB struggle getting cards in the graveyard without Entombing them, but our commander fills that niche! We have 11 onedrops for that, plus a chunk of 2drops that you don't mind usually just running out- and we also run Gravebreaker Lamia, cause it's a cheap entomber that finds anything.
Ramp. Firja costs 5 mana. That's a lot. Sometimes, it ends up being cheaper to cast your reanimator targets than to cast Firja again. To that end, we run Myriad Landscape on top of eight pieces of other ramp- ideally, there'd be more, but I really didn't want to push over $30.
Reanimate Targets. This is the fun bit. We have a bunch of big, impractical creatures to cheat into play, including Necropolis Regent, Baleful Force, Thieving Amalgam, and both the Primordials in our colours- all big, swingy threats that don't usually see play because they aren't that good on rate, but cheating them in with things like Unburial Rites, well, that makes them a lot better.
